"Maki Makito meets the cute girl Aikawa Kizuna amidst a rain of dancing sakura petals. Turns out they’re classmates and SIKE! Aikawa is a guy. More than 3/4 of the story is about the daily lives of Maki and Aikawa at school which shows the reader the kind of relationship that the two main characters have. I found this to be quite excessive and even half of this content would have been sufficient. The best chapter was in the last 1/4 of the story where Maki FINALLY asks why Aikawa crossdresses and the dialogue was perfect. The ending was also as satisfying. I liked the character of Aikawa because of his confidence and philosophy. I struggled to like Maki because he has an “I couldn’t be bothered” attitude but gets involved in various things anyway which was pointless and annoying. All of the characters have little to no background information and the only purpose of side characters is to stage the relationship of the main couple as normal. It wasn’t very comedic, some chapters are 4-komas, and art is good but parts of some chapters turn sketchy randomly (not sure if that’s normal). 6/10, I was disappointed. P.S. I know some readers like fantasizing that Aikawa is actually a girl. NO. He gay."

I'm not fazed about the whole trap thing and what really gets me going is how much a caring person Maki is.
Maki is the best male MC ever if you ask me.

I like how he can be realistic and not judgmental in tackling Aikawa's sexuality.
A love without regards to gender is just sooooo sweet.
I quite like the scene where Maki was given a choice by Aikawa to pick between two flavored candies (COLA- if he wants him to be male ; PEACH- if he wants him to be female).
And then Maki just shove 2 candies at the same time in Aikawa's mouth, hinting that he prefers neither cause both of them is still Aikawa.
I also like the reason why Aikawa crossdress.

I wish there would be a sequel to this.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!

First Online Manga

I have a sort of sentimental attachment to this as it was the first manga I read online and essentially got me into manga. I remember really liking it when I first read it and being really disappointed when it seemed to have stopped updating, reading it again like 4 years later and after reading a whole lot of other manga I've realised that it isn't actually /that/ good but it's still an enjoyable read.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Have to have a little rant here about how I don't understand Aikawa's logic, he says that he believes in doing things that 'fit' you/your image so that you can be you, but doing things that seem 'in-character' for other people might not actually be expressing your true self. Like say he didn't like crossdressing even though it fit him better, then crossdressing shouldn't be something he needs to do to be himself. But aside from that little thing that bothered me, I do like how it ended, I like how they are both attracted to the personality over gender as if you really loved someone physical appearance/gender/skin colour etc. should secondary to personality.

It's a feel good manga focusing on relationships society deems "inappropriate". I enjoyed it from beginning to end and hope for more, somehow. Like maybe an anime? Anyways, it's a solid romance if you're looking for something very sweet.

For a trap manga, it was a fun ride

This series is nothing serious or thoughtful, but nevertheless it is entertaining. Some might be peeved at Aikawa's gender being discrete and rather subjective, but it should be expected. After all, the series is about a so called 'trap' and it plays out well due to the fact that Aikawa is cute and the object of affection, even if he is a boy who looks 100% like a girl. Don't worry though, you never see him as a guy, it is only implied.

It started off great, but turned into 5 volumes of more of the same, with resolutions in the final. Apparently the mangaka thinks the readers are goldfish, the reader is constantly reminded of "but he's a guy," and in the end it started to feel less like a genuine story with some funny stuff, and more like a story that tried to make these situations humourous, and feels insensitive.

As a genderqueer, I found this very disturbing. There were comments in there that offended me and it seems like the whole manga revolved around her being a girl or a boy. Nearly every five pages Aikawa-san has to say "do you think I'm male or female?", and the next four revolve around what Maki-kun thinks she might be. Plus I got bored and had to leave it.

Underwhelmed

This series started off wonderfully! I thought, "Finally! A transgender romance I can really get behind." Maki had the hints of an open-minded heterosexual who loved Aikawa because of who Aikawa was, regardless of gender. Aikawa had the hints of a confident, comfortable MTF character. And the side characters were all interesting, if a bit utopian-style understanding about the gender issue. And the art! Excellent!

Alas, I found myself growing bored as the story diverted into other characters' relationships, and, as another commenter succinctly wrote, it transformed into "nothing but silly random events and some slight character development- then out of nowhere the last 3 or 4 chapters really focus on the relationship."

Hugely dissatisfying.

Hm. . the story itself is actually good. . though in my opinion, even if they didn't include the gender bender tag the manga itself would still be a good read. personally i hate shounen ai cause i'm a guy and i hate any media that is about same gender romance. . i was able to finish this manga cause there was a hope that he was actually a she and that's what kept me reading. . I also commend the author for what he did cause if aikawa's gender was made clear from the get go then i would have stopped reading from early on. . it's not like i hated the fact that i was tricked into reading it i was actually motivated, and the story kinda cute though. .If you don't like shounen ai like i do, then just read it with a mind set that they made a typo of forgetting to put an S in HE regarding aikawa's gender haha! =P

Let me lay it straight to you: it's like reading the typical incest where the sister is very attractive.

That's all.

There's not much else to say; it being comedic, unique, open, tearing the barrier between genders blahblahblahblahblah and the like you can find in other comments.
