I love the art. This is one of only few mangas that stay consistence to its art from the first volume till the end. The drawing is good and clean. I must admit Kyoshiro is the one who attract me to this manga. I love him! For me he's the perfect mc, but how I was wrong. Mangaka decided to make Kyo the one. God!!! I hate him!! He's a sh*tty character who only plays around like a b*stard playboy. Yuya in there just to become a sexual harassment material for Kyo. And what about Sanada Yukimura? The honorable samurai was described as a man-wh*re in this manga. All the women in this manga is like a fan-service aka sexual harassment material for the readers, despite the mangaka is a woman herself!

The story is terrible, really really ridiculous, too drag-y. It started good, but after few chapter it goes downhill. Especially with that Sakuya thing, damm*t! I wasted many chapters to find who is this Sakuya. Those dumb battle scenes are killers too. For example: that Japanese Gary-Sue, Kyo, always yelled something nonsense during battle like "FATA!" to the enemy.

Enemy: what is that😕

Kyo: Oh you don't know what Fata means? It means Fata Morgana!! That's right! My Fata Morgana makes you see mirage of myself!!

Then the enemy dies because of the un-cool battle cries.

The characters are too many, the characters are too many!! And very few of the developments. I only like Hotaru and Akira, the rest can go to hell. At least, those two have pretty decent background story.

Kyo, as a Gary-Sue, never lost his wits, always acting cool and many people worship him. His only development is when he's with Yuya which I really think it's ridiculous. First Kyo and Kyoshiro seem madly in love with Sakuya, then because Yuya's b00bs are bigger, they attract to her. OMG!! I even think Yuya shouldn't be in there. Her weapon is her gun and her big b00bs. I really think that mangaka tried too hard for people to make Kyo a redeemable character.

Back when I was a teenage, this is pretty cool manga. But now, as I'm older, this is trash.

Yeah it's kind of got the feeling of a generic shounen, but this manga was great. It starts out really slow and boring, but gets much much better. You could also say there's "too many characters" but unlike a lot of shounen, I felt like I could connect with each one. The story got really convoluted and all over the place towards the end but it fit together. Yeah, way too many asspulls, and most of the free scanalations were awful!! But honestly the character growth and story was amazing. I really think people don't give this one much of a chance. I didn't expect it to be good, but I couldn't help but binge read to finish and see all the mysteries unraveled.
Ending was good but
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
really wished I could have seen more of Kyo and Yuya possibly even their children. The ending gave off the impression they didn't see each other often. Sorry I just love the ship so much.

Good things about this manga
-Kyo/Kyoshiro duality
-demon eye Kyo!!!
-most of the characters
-the lore
-character growth and development
-nice artwork
-happy ending
-emotional as hell
-good mysteries
-back stories weren't too bad
-very valuable lessons to learn

Bad things
-some of the scans towards the end are awful and ruin the experience
-asspull after asspull
-constant "wAnNa Be StRoNgEr"
-slow begining
-a lot of fights dragged the hell out
-can be confusing at times
-everyone knows each other it's weird
-some unresolved backstories and other issues for some characters
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
what happened before Yuya found her brother? Who is Kyo related to to be last of True Mibu? Where are Yuya Kyo kids? What is Kyo doing at the end? Why did Akira fear Yuya? I need answers I binged this in two nights 😭

Anyways end of my probably incoherent ranting, give SDK a chance.

The SHIT

It was one of my fav shounens back in middle schools - possibly when I just started reading into shounen genre. So at the time it was so cool and new and good. But it didn't get a proper publication (not yet finished then). I let it die/cool down. Then finally, a few years ago, I saw completed scanlation. I looked into it for real this time. Holy SHI-ET.

1. The art is still really good. Compare to the blue flame thingy the mangaka did later. This one's art is pretty intact from start to finish, of good quality. All characters are well designed and sleek. And that is the ONLY positive thing I have.

2. The plot, development and characters are shit. They have no progress whatsoever! What bugs me the most: the battles. Like if it is a good characters (deemed by the mangaka), that person will WIN NO MATTER WHAT. There's no beat-down. There's no fail to gain and learn from lesson. Only MIRACULOUSLY gaining some Super Saiyan continuous level-up power (like untapped after untapped potentials - like unlimited cash cows) to turn the table, especially the protagonist Kyo, as they are about to be defeated by some extremely strong guys out of nowhere with just brief explanations/introductions (like the brief underwear, that's how slight and shallow their characterisations are). COME. ON.

I just can't with this manga. I used to be madly in love with Kyo. Now I drop him like he's hot: hot mess, a shitty mess no less.

Its a good manga, Generic Shounen 7, but Good
The problem is that its scans range from great to the worst I've ever seen
Past chapter 235 I wanted to stop reading entirely because the scans were so horrible
I've literally seen troll scans be like 10X better and more legible

Terrible Battle Manga

This manga was terrible to me, it has barely any plot and just goes from one senseless battle to another. Which would be fine if at least the battle scenes were cool, but they were lame as hell. The story simply isn’t interesting, the protagonists are led by... their own craziness I guess and the villain is awful. Waste of time!

Nice romance for a shounen!

The only shounen manga that made me liked the tsundere relationship between the main lead & the heroine. As much as I love the fight scenes what hooks me to this manga is the romantic sub plot. So yeah I recommend this manga for those who looks for shounen with good romance, epic fight scenes, non slutty female lead & mature tsundere hero.

SDK might be typical but you will grow to love the story as it progresses and additional factor is the ending of the manga was wrapped up nicely without any loose ends.

it wasn't too long. Unfortunately, I don't have the attention span for mangas as long as this, so I had to drop it. Nevertherless, I still liked it, even though I hate some parts- like the comparison between Kyo's first woman and Yuya, if it was me, I would HATE to be compared to someone else. Like someone else said, I was disappointed with Yuya's degrading from a badass to weak heroine. Other than that, I do love the art- it's pretty decent and the story is fine too, but obviously not mind bending, or overly unique, just normal. Everyone also said some more useful reviews about this so I'll leave it to this...

The very first shonen that I completely read and love.
The main character is a badass anti hero at first but as the story progresses he develops appreciation for friendship and love.

Although there are some long fights that took 3O chapters or more of this manga but I don't see anything wrong with it since it's a shonen manga.
Anyway I gave this manga 10 because I love Kyo and Yuya's subtle romance and the side characters that made this manga worth the read.

Remarkable piece of work! Samurai story about friendship, finding the truth and strength, and the true meaning of happiness. There is plenty of enthralling and really beautiful sentences coming from the characters while they're fighting in order to find the true meaning and purpose of their lives. There are many characters, but all of them will eventually capture your attention, maybe even heart. They are so warm, funny and just human! You can find all of your flaws in them, and mature together with them. Even if they were at first antagonists and bad guys, they are not the kind of bad guys you hate until the very end, but you come to emphatize with them and possibly even like them as the story flows, and in their last moments when you see that they weren't always evil, instead, they were gentle and wanted to change the world, but lost themselves in the process and ended up corrupted, in the end, you forgive them all so there isn't anyone to hate anymore smile
The most magnificient thing is the bond between Kyo and Kyoshiro, and Yuya. Kyoshiro who is gentle, protective and warm person, but also unstable and likely to do something wrong while trying to help, and Kyo who is cold, wild, and aloof, seems to actually be quite wise, witty and rational when it comes to his comrades and even enemies. Yuya's and Kyo's bond is something that will keep us, girls tense all the time, just have to read the manga till the very end. One thing I must say, and I know that there are others who don't agree with me, cause it's maybe clichéd, but this is the manga with one of the most beautiful and heart-warming ending I've ever read. So, please, enjoy it smile
(And pay special attention to Hotaru and Akira, really two hilarious guys that will make you laugh to tears)
