Description
Staffed by murderous maids and situated on a war-ravaged island, the Voynich Hotel is far from your run-of-the-mill vacation destination--but it’s not such a bad place to lie low for ex-yakuza Kazuki Taizou, who’s on the run from his so-called family. As he settles into his weird new life, this darkly comedic manga winds through plots both nefarious and romantic, delving ever deeper into the island’s witchy--and sometimes demonic--strangeness.

What are yall on about? Plotless at best, one dimensional characters, comedy? What comedy?

And worst of all.. boring, plain and stale, the art is unique to make you think the story is as well, don’t be deceived

The Essence of Jazz in Manga Form

It's funny, it's sad, it's surprising, it's complex, it's rich and layered, smooth and jagged, classy and dirty.

This manga is a masterclass on how to write intertwining plots—each compelling on their own—with several mysteries slowly revealing themselves and some downright bizzare but flavourful moments and character interactions.

The setting is a snapshot in time, the characters drive the story (and drive it like a professional), and things happen that just need to be experienced. The art style matches the quirky but compelling storytelling and I can only think of one negative:

It's a shame there had to be nudity, and I mean that with a passion because I really wanted to put this on my bookshelf at home, but nudity is a no-go for me. Maybe they sell a censored version?

Anyway, each character is fleshed out and bring their own energy to the table which, combined with the world building, creates a a lot of chaos and every moment of it has something to show you.

Just Amazing

This story seems so weird and random, told in short chapters that often seem unrelated. Yet by the end literally every story thread comes together in a beautiful, logical conclusion! (Except one minor thread that's just for laughs it seems)
The characters are endearing and adorable. The villains are despicable but still full of character too, not cut-outs. The situation is... highly unusual but that's the charm that holds your attention. So many mysteries to solve!
From an eye that falls out to the aspirations of isolated kids on a small island, the story, art and characters make it unforgettable. EZ 10/10

It was good read. Really liked it. But I didn't laugh in the whole 3 volumes and I can't give a higher rating to a comedy if It didn't make me laugh.
This is completely subjective, overall I think it's worth reading.

Great blend of humor, drama and fantasy elements

The story is a mix of supernatural and the mundane, with dark humor being the predominant element, and frequent episodes of drama that, thankfully, are also played for laughs (most of the time) keeping the comedy aspect of the series consistent. Many interesting and unique characters are featured, each with their own backstory and motivation, and even though there are a few obvious archetypes, they are still compelling and sympathetic to the last, even the more antagonistic ones.

Although I feel like the series could have been longer, it ends without any unresolved plot threads and wraps up every character's story nicely, leaving a few hooks that would allow for a continuation. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark, sometimes morbid humor, although it features its fair share of more light-hearted moments.

This is my favorite thing Dowman Sayman has done. Wrote about it in a long review. This manga COMPLETELY does its own thing and seemingly lacks a plot. It's like looking into a surreal realm of magic, ghosts, and drugs. Funny, cute, funny, depressing, funny, perverted; it's good.

Perfectly mad

First off, if, like me, you were drawn to this manga because of it being classed as "horror", prepare to be a little let down. It's not even faintly spooky. The good news is that this is a razor-sharp piece of utterly insane dark comedy. Its overall structure takes the approach of throwing a dozen different plot threads at the wall and seeing how they crisscross, and it works well. There's hardly an unentertaining character in the lot, and the pace is kept brisk and fun. It's packed with often dark, occasionally gory, and frequently inappropriate comedy on an ever-expanding (and contracting) roster of wonderfully bizarre characters. It's not the sort of thing I'm normally into, but I just can't say boo to something with this sense of uninhibited, risk-taking, ribald fun.
