Shrink, it is not. But it's good to see where Tsukiko came from before that brilliant work.
There are some dangling plot threads, and the end is not at the most natural spot; otherwise, I can recommend this with few qualms.

Rushed ending.

So I'm not sure if I'm the only one who felt this but don't you guy think the ending was rushed? I would have preferred an ending where Tamaki's friend with glasses and Saya's older sister would have started to go out together. Same for grade-schoolers and the glasses girl who has a crush on this dense mountain climber friend. Also, the ending felt so random.Like, I understand that the author made a buildup for the their kiss and all but just like that? Let's go to school with our winter uniforms, y'know, you changed my life and all. Kiss. Ending. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved the manga, I loved the fact that they managed to make analogies to any kind of thing to reptiles/amphibians. It was so great. BUT. That ending annoyed me the more because of that. Maybe I'm just ranting at this point.

It's basically pure fluff with some reptile references. There's no drama, no drawn-out misunderstandings or anything. It has no depth and the chapters are short so it makes for a quick and easy read, but it doesn't feel boring nor drawn out.
To put it simply, it's a very well written light-hearted fluff manga. I enjoyed it for what it is, and my batteries are slightly recharged.

it is what it is mostly awkward teen fluff and don't expect a ground breaking story as its fairly episodic but overall its quite entertaining. Defiantly worth reading but I'm slightly bias as reptiles are awesome.
Romance Story with Reptile Reference

I really enjoy the couple growth in this manga. When it comes to a romance story, the author tend to use an outsider as a third wheel to advance the relationship of the two main characters. I don't say it's bad, sometimes I find it useful when we talk about characters that stuck in the past and can't bring themselves to love anyone anymore (ex. in bitter virgin). But usually, an author use it even if it's unneeded. Obviously, it's to create misunderstanding drama that sells. So in my eyes, love triangle tends to be just a cheap trick/hack to create a romance story. The author is just so lazy to think something needed to make the story interesting, so he takes the easiest way that is overused and uninteresting anymore.
Tsuru Tsuru to Zara Zara no Aida on the other hand, uses another way to advance the relationship of the two characters. Instead of using overused misunderstanding-love triangle, it makes the two character having a complete opposite feeling about reptile and at the same time succesful in making the story believeable.
At first, I expected Tsuru Tsuru to Zara Zara no Aida to be something similar to Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san or Tonari no Seki kun where the slice of life or comedy part become the focus while the relationship between the characters seems no advancement (in here I expected the manga focus more on the reptile). But I was wrong, this one obviously is a romance story from the start which uses reptile's life as a reference, means the reptile thingy is just a background from the start. I can't see how much effort the author put in this work, but at least I can be sure he must put so much thought to learn about reptile and use it as reference in his romance story (maybe the author himself is a reptile lover).
I hope the author of this manga can be consistent with this clever and thoughtful way to andvance the relationship between characters. So far, it's really interesting.

Once the romance is set, there is no more story. The reptilian presence, which is the only original trait of this manga, fades into background after a dozen of chapters. I've stopped reading at chapter 27 after getting annoyed of an eventless main story, and filler side-stories with evanescent side-characters.
Oh no, I have great fear for this series, from what I've read it seems to have...absolutely no storyline. By that I mean, it has no character development, no furthering in their relationship, no drama and nothing at all other than reptiles!
Hopefully it doesn't become like Mysterious Girlfriend and actually has some kind of romantic movement, but I'm not having high hopes ATM.
Anyway, I'll have to wait and see. (So no rating yet)
