I didn't hate the series, but I didn't love it either. Like everyone else, I didn't like how much rape went on and how Hakuron thought the only way to keep Kurumi is assault her.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I was SOOOOOO sad when I saw the ending though. I can't believe he died. I really wish Mayu Shinjo didn't kill him off like that since he just got back with Kurumi. And killing him off on his wedding day?! And omg, she made a random character kill him too. Stupid Kafai...

The plot was loose and the storyline trumbled like kurumi's body when Hakuron touched her.

The hole story was based only on raping her and treating her like CRAP!!! c'mon at the very end it was even worst after all the obstacles they faced they had a creepy silly and cold ending. before the last 8 pages i gave the benefit of the doubt to tthe plot, but mayu at the very end dessapointed me!!!!!!!

Gods... why did I put myself through this again?

I'd dropped this title a long time ago and decided to try reading this again, despite Shinjo Mayu's annoying storytelling traits. Bleah... well, the saving grace is the art but the story itself is boring and bland. And it's completely full of nothing but sex, smut and useless bitching between women and men.

Seriously... why did I put myself through the agony of trying to read this title again? The plot devices are nothing special and neither is the storytelling. In fact, everything reads like 1 big cliched fest from a C-class movie. I don't mind cliches or sex but the storytelling makes everything like soured milk.

I mean this is one of the most horrible mangas I have EVER read.
Shinjo Mayu's work has always make her characters so weak, native and not really attractive, but she makes her main guys so sexy and powerful. I think this manga was a huge disapointment as well with the most depressing endings I ever encountered but i think it suits this horrible manga as well. I mean Kurumi just keeps getting raped, sexually abused by Hakuron and she still loves him...I loved the smut scenes but the characters and the plot wasnt worth continuing the series. I give this series 1/10. I feel sorry for Kurumi but then again I don't..so idiotic

I like some parts of the story, but the majority of it was a turn off for me. The male lead can be really sweet and gentle at times, but that doesn't make up for all the other times he's a jerk to the female lead, especially when it involves rape. The female lead was really annoying. Her innocence was fine for the first 3 volumes, but when she was still like that past volume 3, it really got to be too much. The drama is way over the top to the point of being ridiculous and there's so much rape in this story it's not even funny.

Though, despite what sounds like a negative review, for some reason I still stuck to this manga and read it to the end. There's something about it that just kept me going, so I can't say it was all bad...it just could have been much much better.

I don't know what went through my head, but my opinion has changed as I read some of the chapters again. It made me realized how stupid the whole manga is, and probably the worst manga I've read... EVER. Mayu Shinjo loves to write mangas about a poor innocent girl getting bullied by a guy who's obviously more rich and superior than she is, and it's pathetic. Highly offensive to any girls that read this.

although i read Shinjo's other mangas too, this particular one stuck in my mind. i don't know, whether it was because of the sex content, the twisted male character or the ending . however, in the end i found its story shallow and unrealistic.while reading I compared it with the Minegishi Nobuaki's "Old Boy", which is far better written and more complicated than this one, simply because of its mysterious and psychological elements.

If you have too much spare time, you can read it. But it is definitely not for the kids biggrin

This manga is pretty good (if u dont mind the molesting part). I spent 1 day (23 hrs) reading this manga and I love it but I hate it hence the rating... I love the beginning on how they met, then the middle (minus the mol3sting parts), nd I hate the end... I mean I didnt spend a whole fucking day to read it and then BAM!!! He is obsessive (like really obsessive) but has some good trait. She is kind of an idiot (in my opinion) but kinda brave.. over all if u could get over the molesting part (the one tyat everyone is giving a one on), it's a pretty good read. .

Typical Shinjo Mayu

And God, I hate her works. Especially her heroins, so weak-willed, allowing themselves to be treated like shit, and repeating "It's my fault", "I love you anyway". Girl, go kill yourself please, you're just too stupid.

I've read good mangas about Stockholm syndrom, but that's not what it's all about here. Haou Airen just conveys the idea that (repeated) rape is trivial, as well as the victim falling for (worshipping !) her rapist, (no matter what he keeps doing to her) and that in the end, she can just sweep all of that aside (rapes + murders), marry her rapist and picture a happy loving life...
That's not just unrealistic, it's plain sick.
How one can call that romance is beyond me. And so is the reason why one would root and feel for either of the two protagonists, be it for the sick twisted rapist Hakuron, or for the whiny submissive moron Kurumi. I simply cannot comprehend it.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Then there is the end, Hakuron dies, and I'm so very happy about it ! I actually laughed my ass off at the end : as said below : He dies + AT THE F*CKING WEDDING + killed by a TOTALLY RANDOM CHARACTER = PURE WIN ! LOL, they should just have killed off Kurumi too.

So, yeah... Typical Shinjo Mayu, makes me want to puke as usual...

PS : I agree, Sunrises' comment is hilarious ! XD
