The true nature of human kind...

A manga with a really high pace and indigestible art-work. Cruel and somtimes grotesque.
This is really dark stuff! A story that shows much of the true evil nature of human kind.
I would understand that many would not be able to read it because of it's extream violence and sadistic humour.
However, the characters is good and makes the story go on. It has really good actionscenes.
For us readers who like this kind of genre, it's like christmas eve full of adrenline and gunfire.

Black humor, John Woo type action, gangsters, drug dealers, mercenaries, pirates and the most dangerous women on the planet all in one city. Its pretty awesome. The first time I started reading it I didn't take too it as it seemed a bit over the top, then I realized where it was coming from with obvious influences from Robert Rodriguez and John Woo.

Its only weakness is that the battles can sometimes run several chapters and seem to drag on a bit. There has been some character and relationship development but not tons. There's been about 81 chapters put out and it still feels like we are early into the series as there are still many unanswered questions and character history left to fill out. The author really dialed up the level of action with the Roberta arc, it felt like more action than story but hopefully he can bring it back down and concentrate on the characters once again.

The anime is great and I recommend it too. I own it, so go out and buy it and support the Mangaka.

Great manga, that has a great set of characters, and a made up city that actually seems believable. Rock and Revy really go well together especially with their opposite beliefs on almost everything. Revy is one of, if not the most badass female character ever. Black Lagoon should be off hiatus very soon so new chapters can come up. *just a heads up if you want to read this after watching the anime keep in mind that both of them have the same arcs, but in a different order.

This manga is like an action series on TV. It has great drawing and nice action scenes, but not much else. The characters aren't being developed at all and there's no overall goal. There's just a series of random, but still entertaining, fights. But with only arcs about the day-to-day adventures, the story gives a sense that it isn't going anywhere. There's also intermittent philosophical rants that are way too long and confusing.

Black Lagoon is Michael Bay and Tarantino's love child in manga form. Lots of explosions, senseless murder, gunplay, titties, and long speeches from the characters about life and how cool it is to live by the way of the gun. If you like all-out-logic-defying-action mangas, then this is for you. If not, dont even bother trying it.

Mass mayhem and bloody rampage does indeed work in this serie. Funniest thing is that so far there hasnt been a single completely impossible thing what they have done in anime and manga. Unlike most of series which are based on unrealistic stuff, this isnt.

I like to look at Black Lagoon as the summer blockbuster of the manga world. It does exactly what you expect it to- entertain you with nearly mindless violence, completely unrealistic flashy action panels, and some underlying plot and character development that, while nothing incredible, complements the action nicely without detracting at all. This isn't really something you should be thinking much with, and it doesn't try to be all that often, which is probably why I find it to be more successful than others in the same genre. It's just violent mayhem, plain and simple- but it works.

Just have fun with it.

To tell the truth i like the anime more than the manga, it was the anime that introduced me to the manga really, and when it ended i couldn'tt help but search for the manga. It's a pretty awesome series as soon as it starts and the action doesn't let you go for a minute, fast paced, high action, just the way i like it.
