Dragonball was the first manga I read. It's my childhood manga, both the manga and the anime. I was 9 when I read a manga for the first time, and thanks to Dragonball it dragged me to the manga world =]
The story is really special, unique, an exciting story. Goku, the main character is so funny and the whole story is really funny. The author got absolute sense of humor, I laughed at least 3 times in every volumes. Well, I have to admit that the humor decreases a bit when Goku and everyone becomes adult (around Babidi's saga) but don't worry, none of these sagas is shallow biggrin
There's holy bunch of characters in dragonball, and I'm the typical person who forget easy who's who. But the good thing about this manga is that every character has their own uniqueness (even evil monsters hahaha) and there's a lot of action and abnormal stuff happening wink Every saga has a great plot, trust me.

Of course there's some downsides about the story, but it's nothing really big in my opinion:
Goku is the main character, so it's obvious everything is about him but I didn't always like that at first there's always his friends who fights a battle and Goku always finish the final blow at the strongest monster in almost every saga.
There's a lot of questions which might appear in your head which might not be cleared u e.g
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
how did Kuririn /Krillin get a child together with an android? How did Trunks and Goten achieve to be a super saiyan (though Goten said he didn't remember how).

PS: The anime and the game is also awesome! I would recommend Dragonball and One piece among Shounen manga I've read most wink!

Oh My God! this is the best battle-manga i've read in my life, the battles are just to epic. When I was done reading the manga I started to watch the anime right away (even though I don't really like to watch anime). I mean it's not the best manga i've read, but in the catagory of battle-manga this one is most deffinetly number one by a long shot. It's to bad the manga ended, I wish it would go on forever. But I guess it's for the best. Normally when I finish a manga, I'm like ''WTF why did it end here, and why now, there are stil so many questions left!'' But with this manga I felt happy it ended, en especially this way. I mean, there is nothing left for me to know.

since kid i has watched it, from songoku small until he's become Super Saiyan 4 then Lastly the greatest battle Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta VS Ultimate Senlong who have already sucked the remaining saiyan in earth and make it his own power. Unbelievable Ultimate Senlong who more powerfull and fast than super saiyan 4 songoku can't see the puch of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta with puch speed have been reduce 100 times of her previous full speed puch. OMG how much that speed puch!!!! The super saiyan 4 songoku have speed more fast than light we know the light speed is 299,792,458 meters per second or about 186,282.4 miles per second so maybe he have speed of photon 2x times more fast than light so the Ultimate Senlong have speed 3x more fast than light and now how fast frist super saiyan 4 Gogeta puch launched to Ultimate Senlongconfused!!!! Ultimate Senlong have 3x speed of light so we can guess Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta have 300 times speed more fast than light = 89,934,737,400 meters per second or about 558,847,200 miles per second. GOD MUST BE SHOCK!!!!!!! IoI even Sungokong can just salto 100.000 miles in 1 times Salto wkwkkwkw

Everyone is aware of the fact that 'Dragon Ball' brought the golden age of Shounen Manga. It is a epic and masterpiece in nature. Story has its origanility with a classic sense of humour and fantasy.
Artwork is the best.
Well Dragon Ball become the standard defination of shounen manga(cool fights, strong enemy,training,power-ups.)
I am sure you will find it interesting.

well if you go to Japan and you ask about Dragon Ball, maybe most of Japanese know about this manga / anime
it's what you call a masterpiece of manga...
the story is epic, the characters is epic...
you can found many great battle that's so powerful so you can call that the most powerful battle of all mangas
i read it and watch its anime since 12 years ago i guess and even though it's already completed for such a long time, it's still one of my favourite
and for further excitement, here in this manga you can found MANY of the strongest character in the history of manga
yes. many of them can easily destroy a planet, and can move very fast (i remember that there are character that can travel around the world in just some seconds) in the later chapter, and especially in the continuation of the anime : Dragon Ball GT which story isn't written in manga.

and if you don't know, Akira Toriyama with his Dragon Ball influenced many great mangaka such as Eichiro Oda with his One Piece and Mashima Hiro with his Rave & Fairy Tail

another point for Dragon Ball is that this manga was the one that make Weekly Shounen Jump as the number one manga magazine in Japan. when Dragon Ball was completed, Weekly Shounen Jump entered the Dark Age, and the position of number one was stolen by its rival which were the former top rank : Weekly Shounen Magazine. I don't really know when WSJ come back to the top (although the different in sale is not far from WSM nowadays) but Dragon Ball really had a big contribution for the magazine

My friend and I were rereading it (mainly because I have all of the volumes and they were just THERE) but we were like, "There is no freaking way that Goku would grow up and have no physical problems like a normal human being would." And then OF COURSE, he had to be an alien. Our thoughts: Akira Toriyama is the George Lucas of manga.

...Yeah, the random thoughts of college freshman.

Anyway, when I first saw this series I think I was 10. I remember watching Digimon around the same time. I just loved it. And I do admit, the story dragged on an on and you were wondering whether it would be over (and then two more freaking spin offs came and you got freaking annoyed), but I loved this series nonetheless. It's a great way to introduce people into anime and manga.

Wow... I'm so sad that it's over! The ending was kind of like what I expected it to be... A typical dragon ball-like ending! It was way better than I expected it to be. Since I didn't follow the anime when I was young (it was on tv though), the dragon ball universe was very new to me. But I loved it! It's so easy to get into, and love all the characters because almost all of them have a good heart and most of them are given the chance to show that. A must-read of course!
Too bad it's over, but there's always dragon ball GT left!

2012 Update: Okay, Dragon Ball GT sucked (that may have been thanks to the fact that Toriyama-sama did not write that piece of crap it ended up to be).

Having followed the anime in my childhood, playing with my friends and all makes me feel nostalgic.
This series was very good, Dragon Ball was about more than fights, i enjoyed it very much. When Z began i also felt excited but, to me, by the time the androids appeared the series stopped having appeal. It was no longer about the quests, it was about fighting on and on and on, and as much as i like a good ended up becoming boring because of it, and the array of characters that started to mean nothing. Still, Dragon Ball is awesome for it's simplicity and i'll always be fond of the initial series.

What can I say, I was addicted from start to end. But lets talk about my favourite arcs:

Tournament arc: The journey goku and krillen take to become entrants and then find they are two of the strongest warriors there, sooooooooooo cooooooooooooooool.

Saiyan arc: Main character dies, training was intense, and it was so cool to see all the side characters fight by side by side. Goku defeating nappa was imo one of the best moments of the series.

Namek: Going around finding dragonballs, everything was plotted so cleverly and characters would miss the detection of others by a hare, or be saved by an unpredictable event. Piccolo coming in to save the day was awesome, the old villain just kicking arse, at least for a while.

Love it forever.
