Kyouko Mogami lived solely for her childhood friend Shoutaro "Shou" Fuwa. She follows Shou to Tokyo so that he may realize his dream of becoming a famous singer. When his dream is realized, Kyouko overhears the truth behind his decision to bringing her with him: he was using her as a maid.
Shocked and enraged, Kyouko swears to take revenge by outdoing him in show business. With a new look and a new attitude, she joins LME, the agency where Ren Tsuruga (Shou's rival and the #1 actor of LME) works, in the hopes of achieving her goal of destroying Shou's pride.
Along the way, she discovers her true self, makes new friends (and enemies), and finds herself at the heart of some interesting situations that will change her life, and the lives of all others involved, forever.

this work is ok. theres nothing much to be said. i was able to read the entire thing. some of the chapters were funny others were rather quaint and unimaginative. it didnt keep me spellbound but still gave me enough interest to read on. Heroine is ok but after 17 vol+ and witnessing very little personality growth makes me want to say ehhh, typical shoujo manga. i should stick to josei

I gave this series a high rating for the way the story is laid out and how it progresses. Although the theme is not that unique, the plot and character development is very good. The author really thought well of each of the characters' personalities, emotions and actions, creating a very rich and dynamic set of players in the story. The mangaka reveals bits and pieces of the mystery surrounding each character as the chapters increase which makes it all the more intriguing and addicting.. haha Even though the plot is unrealistic (and a bit slow in pace), it doesn't matter. For me, the ridiculousness of it all has its own charm.

Anyway, this series is definitely for shoujo fans. It's one that should not be missed.

I'm not talking bout the manga itself, but how people comment bout it. Really now, this is a very interesting and likable manga and should be read by fans everywhere. People saying this is not real enough (duh, it's a comedy manga-- not a slice of life dramatic one), should open their mind further and see the humour and touching side of this manga!!

I'm a picky person so this manga gets a 9/10, for 10/10 is Tokyo crazy paradise, kare kano, real fake princess...

original and hysterical, this manga has everything i can ask for......a very unique and original plot, it doesn't have those shoujo-ish qualities that i hate the most (whiny leads, cute but dumb chicks, or rediculously gay-looking guys) you can't help but fall in love with the female and male protagonists, and even wish for them to be together.....

This is so funny! The heroine's perseverance is awesome and she's so hilarious especially her small dolls.

I just love this that I didn't sleep for 24 hours just to finish them all! Yep, all 111 chapters in just one go!

This manga is my favorite, it's completely different from all the mangas I have ever read! Kyouko's character is something really amusing. It's a very, highly addictive manga and I am definetly going to collect the whole thing!

I only picked up this series because it was adverised in almost all the other mangas I was reading, and I am so glad I did. Although the drawing style is awkward at times (although the outfit designs rock), I love this series! I love the fact that Kyouko does actually stumble on her quest for revenge/fame. The characters are so realistic and wordly, not to mention funny. I found myself in the bookstore the other day, staring at the books going "hm, I love that chapter in that volume, but that story continues on into that volume, so I guess I'll get both. But I also love that chapter, and that one, and that one!" Sadly, I did not have enough cash to buy the series, and this is coming from a chronic miser. Read Skip Beat!!

I love this manga. At first I wasn't really interested, because the art didn't look that great.(the image above, hmm xD) But when I read it, the art wasn't that bad, and the story totally blew me away xD hah
No matter, how many times I re-read the manga, it never fails to make me laugh! ^^ probably because of the heroine!

I think all the praise for Skip Beat! that I want to say has been said already, but I have to say, it's one of the funniest mangas I've read. I lost count of how many times I cracked up (especially at the scenes between Ren and Kyouko! -pffffft- C-chicken...! Prince...!) by the 3rd volume, and I just kept wanting more! I'm not too fond of the plot, but the comedy and the great characters keep me going. Ah, Ren. I laugh every time he does his 'gentlemanly smile' with Kyouko in the vicinity. xD
