I gave it a ten to bring BLs avarage score up. And to chas: you should take it less seriosly. Its fiction of course it's going to be unrealistic so looking into it is pretty much pointless. Its a nice manga worth at least a eight

Bah, it doesn't really matter about how real or how weak the plot is. BL is what it is just plain fun to read. Made specially for those who like action and crazy killer woman ( if you guys love Revy you should check Bambi and her Pink Gun out!). Anyway there is plenty( tho kind hard to come by) of manga with good plot around there if u want serious and realistic, and one more thing there is no rules on how someone should rate something they like. So give it a rest!

This manga is great, I mean seriously. I needed an action manga to read while waiting on releases for Evangelion and Hellsing. Chas sounds like he didn't like 300 either.

As I said some guys should just go downtown and remove their manhood. And I'm a girl bigrazz

Mass mayhem and bloody rampage does indeed work in this serie. Funniest thing is that so far there hasnt been a single completely impossible thing what they have done in anime and manga. Unlike most of series which are based on unrealistic stuff, this isnt.

It is an alright manga - I did expect a bit more prior to beginning the series.

It is quite violence/dark heavy, with plenty of random mayhem (And sexual fanservice for the guys, thanks to Revy. Sure, she kicks butt, but the regular crotch shots and bare boobs sort of defeat the purpose) which can be meaningless if there is really nothing more beyond that. There is some philosophical parts, but they may feel a bit one sided or make being gun tolling maniacs a good thing, or, demean other aspects of life.

Some of the characters are great: Like Balalaika. a real strong, female character, with a military past, able to lead a group of tough men, intellectual, overall pretty badass. And it is nice, since she didn't have to wear skimpy clothing, be purty, be in random catfights or be nekkid to achieve what she wanted. She was really refreshing.

Otherwise, everyone else might be a bit over the top, have the same basic traumatic past, or purely a bit too bland, thus make characterization limited. The plot is decent, but for whatever reason it didn't engulfe me. It doesn't feel...creative? for the lack of a better description. Other things feel exagerated too. And who knows where everything is actually going.

I only bought and read the first three volumes, so maybe I am missing something later on. Nevertheless, just wasn't interested enough to continue. Maybe I'll start up again someday, but until then I'll focus on other series.

It could all just be me. To another, it is a good series if you just want to indulge in a mindless-style-overthetop-action read, with plenty of character arguments and missions.

And of course, there are some dark twists on the side. And I do mean dark (Example: There is reference of certain child characters involved in "Snuff films" and beyond, and it's not the only thing going on in the series, nor the worst depending on what you percieve) so be warned if you are not too keen in reading that sort of stuff.

I've never tried the anime, and there have been claims that it is better - so maybe my opinion would be different for that version.

This is quite rare, but this is one of the example where anime is better than manga.

I feel I have to comment.
1. Yes, the anime is better than the manga. (however, scanlations for the manga are extremely slow and have not yet caught up to the subbed anime)
2. The action......frankly I feel that it's just the mangaka's inexperience in laying down character background that really makes the manga seem so "over the top."
To quote another comment "It allows the Reby (or however you spell her name), to do incredibly stupid things, like running into a room full of bad guys, killing them all, while they kinda just stand there, firing their guns at nothing in particular."... in reality, that's completely possible. It all depends on the relative training and pure psychotic tendencies of the individuals in question. Not to mention that drawing/scripting action scenes isn't exactly like sketching a picture book neh?
Either way, it's the lack of depth, not the "over the top" action that kills the manga for me. The anime is just plain better.
But the manga is still worth reading, sucks that no one's scanlating it at a decent pace.

I'm backing Chas on this of course, most people don't really care about a good plot as long as one is there. As long as they get their deaths, apathy and drama, they'll give anything a 9 or 10 based almost entirely on that. The stale unrealistic plot doesn't seem to matter and this manga brings it full force. I mean, who just lets some business man who acts like jack-ass disrespect them and throw there machine gun in the water without saying a word and then lets him join up with them even though he has no skill and doesn't listen without a second thought?

This is quite possibly the worst manga I've ever read. Yeah, the art is nice, as the artist has plenty of experience drawing doujinshi under the name of Tex Mex, but he should never have tried to do a fully fledged manga.
The characters are all paper thin, and the action is incredibly dull. It's not just unrealistic, it's unrealistic to the point where it's downright pathetic. Basically, Black Lagoon makes Rambo 3 look like a documentary on guerilla warfare. Instead of making the hero character skilled, the author decided to make the enemies unskilled. It's the Stormtrooper Effect times ten. It allows the Reby (or however you spell her name), to do incredibly stupid things, like running into a room full of bad guys, killing them all, while they kinda just stand there, firing their guns at nothing in particular.

You'll only be able to enjoy this if you're a brainless teenager who's watched too many Tarantino movies. It does everything it can to be "cool" or "badass", but that's exactly what makes it fail in every sense of the word.

Edit: To Fumoffu-chan: I enjoyed 300. It may have been exaggerated, but it showed the Spartans use tactics backed up by a lifetime of training, which is the exact opposite of what trash like BL does.
And turn in my manhood, huh? If anything, the people who enjoy watching girls with no tactical understanding run around killing guys are the ones who should turn in their manhood.
