Maeda Hachibei is unlike most guys, who lust after gorgeous girls. This pervert lusts after their discrete parts, instead. When he moves to Tokyo to attend school, he finds himself living in a dormitory with five girls, each of which possesses one of the ideal physical features he desires: gorgeous blue eyes, bullet-train breasts, a deep dulcet voice, straight “anime-esque” legs, or a waistline shaped like fine Japanese pottery. How can he manage to keep his wits when surrounded by these women? If you think this sounds like a Love Hina clone, you wouldn’t be entirely incorrect… but Hachibei isn’t Keitaro.

Includes a oneshot in Vol.12: "The Boy Who Heard Too Much".

the best harem manga
Rating: 9.5 / 10.0

This is the greatest harem for its crazy comedy and passionate protagonist. He is the only protagonist that actually goes full force after the girls. While at first he is just an insane pervert, he becomes more understanding about love. The ecchi isn't as good as To-Love-Ru, but it is enough to make you excited. The chapters are pretty disconnected and there are no huge arcs, but almost every chapter has a significant purpose even if it is vague. Definitely read if you like Midori no Hibi.

I expected this to be a seriously screwed up manga, but after a while you begin to realize that the main character isn't that bad after all. He actually ends up falling in love with someone. Other than that, comedy is hilarious.

Hm... How else should I describe this manga. It's not so much that he has a large amount of major fetishes, but it's more so that he is an extremely shallow person.

This changes over time, and by chapter 70 he has turned into a rather deep character. Can't wait for the future updates, looks like the drama is about to unfold. It's like a love-flow-chart, instead of a love triangle.

P.S. Does anyone in this world actually HAVE an ankle-less-leg fetish? That just seems a bit

I would have thought that this one would appeal to me, but I found out otherwise sadly.... First off, I simply don't like the male lead at all.... And for as many harem style manga I've read, this just didn't have enough in the first few chapters to hold my attention....

I really enjoy reading this. As some others have pointed out, I couldn't stop reading once I started. At first I didn't like the manga. It seemed like it would be another perverted harem with no overall plot however; after reading it I think differently. As someone has mentioned, the sections do not always tie directly into each other but in general they all advance the plot (which happens to be the oddly formed romance Hachibei shares with the four girls).

I would recommend this manga. The only thing I dislike about this manga is that because of how strict the main character's (Hachibei) views are, I don't see him actually falling for any of the five girls at this point. I hope this changes and it resumes some semblance of a romance, but until then I will readily enjoy the comedy that this brings.

One of the few mangas I have read that actually makes me laugh non stop. It takes a while to get use to the fetish humor, but really just think of it as an acquired taste.

Currently on Chapter 64

this is definitely a must read, you dont come upon many manga fetish related, and this one is good...
and what makes it better is that there is no Hentai in it, so its just a reg manga about him and his pursuits of the parts he loves...its amazing.

also, i see a bit of influence from his other manga as well, idk what one came first, but its still a great read.

i have to agree with sandman1008. although this is light fun, and enjoyable, the fetishes are somewhat disturbing for me. i just can't relate to these fetishes, and i am sure girls would somewhat consider this manga an affront to them- liking the parts, not the women themselves..

anyways, this manga is likable, but i just cant consider it as one of my favorites. that's all..

PS. i just read from the news that it just ended at v12? hmm.. we still have a long way to go..

So far, I'm a bit disappointed by this manga seeing as I read so many great reviews of it. For whatever reason, I can't seem to get into the main protagonist's character. He shows potential to become a great character (strong beliefs and somewhat chivalrous [except the chivalry is aimed towards women's parts and not the women themselves]), but his fetishes become a bit of an annoyance. The fetishes don't stop with the protagonist, though. There are a bunch of characters in this manga that have "disturbing" fetishes to say the least. Now these fetishes can lead to some pretty decent humor, but a lot of times, I couldn't help but think, "Come on. Can't you be a little bit normal?" Don't want to knock anybody's fetish, but they are taken to an extreme in this manga. It's taken so far, that it becomes a bit unbearable at times.

There's also the problem that most of these chapters are stand-alone episodes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing since Midori no Hibi was also this way. However, these episodes are just not as appealing as those in Midori no Hibi, and at least most chapters in Midori no Hibi center around a central theme (sometimes more vague than others). These episodic chapters don't seem to make much of any progress to the main theme.

Overall, it's an average read. It can be enjoyable (as seen by the reviews of other people), but if obsessive, strange fetishes aren't your cup of tea, than it may be hard to enjoy this manga to the fullest. Would definitely recommend Midori no Hibi over this (same author). And seeing as it is often compared to Love Hina, I would also recommend that over this manga.
