From Yen Press:
The air of celebration surrounding fifteen-year-old Oz Vessalius’s coming-of-age ceremony quickly turns to horror when he is condemned for a sin about which he knows nothing. He is thrown into an eternal prison known as the Abyss, from which there is no escape. There, he meets a young girl named Alice, who is not what she seems. Now that the relentless cogs of fate have begun to turn, will they lead only to crushing despair for Oz, or is there some shred of hope for him to grasp on to?

I really love this manga ^.^
It is funny, sad, filled with mystery and fantasy plus it has a nice flow. The only thing I don't quite understand is why it is shounen? Shounen/Seinen/Shoujo/Josei describes the art and not what the manga is about. I'd say this art looks more like Josei. It's only my opinion though...

When i first read the description of the manga, it already got me! (I thought at that moment, hurry open the 1st ch.).
Plus I could see good-drawing manga from the cover. I always picked manga before i read it by its cover....
First, I didn't get the idea... what's abyss? chains? (not enough explanation in first/second chapter).... But things started to be interesting as the story goes on. Surprise by surprise....
When I'm reading this manga, it seems like opening jack-in-the-box!
Each chapter progress, we can see the truth beyond each character in the manga.... Oh I like it. We can know what they are thinking, their point of view, their feeling, and their role to reveal of the mystery: what happened 100 years ago.
Till now I hardly guess what will happen to the next chapter....
Oh yeah, thx a lot for the scanlations group for the work! I love u!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
And about vincent, i always thought, he is psycho or cold blooded antagonist. But in the latest chapter, i developed symphathy for him...

i usually dont write reviews but this manga is so good that i felt i had to!
well at the start id thought i would probably give up on this manga like with most others , but surpisingly i read on and flew through it! what i really like about this manga is that it has a good plot and mystery without it being overcomplicated. unlike with some other manga(tsubasa chronicles for eg) where the story is overly complicated and you have to read each page with attentivness, in pandora hearts it gives the good plot without overloading your brain trying to figure out whats going on. and i think its pretty obvious that the amazing art is another plus, its also updated regulary which is what i love about it too. strongly recommend this to all readers(even the shoujo manga readers as im one myslef) i think this mange will be enjoyed by anyone if you give it a try! ^^

I first stumbled upon this series in the earlier chapters and have followed it through. I have to say it caught my attention in the first couple pages and has since had me hooked. I'm really a good guesser (I guess) and i can easily figure out how a story's plot will turn next, but i have to say that Pandora Hearts has made that a bit tough! (Though i have had my right moments xp ) And i really can't wait until it comes out in America this December! Although i hope it won't get too mainstream just yet smile

At first i was thrown off by the characters. They're all kids! (Oz is 15). I didn't know what to expect, you see. But I plow on seeing that the title should mean something.

Luckily, after a few chapters the plot revealed to be worthwhile. It's a great read. And the characters are nicely developed, with Oz being one of the most well-developed characters I've ever seen. His facial expressions are very well done!

Despite the fun and cute characters, the story is actually dark and emotional. I have to read and reread to be able to understand the story. There's a lot of mystery to unfold and feelings to sort out. But, that's why it's excellent! (>.< wink .

One of the neat things about this manga is because there really are no "bad guys" ....(yet).....

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
well, except for miranda barma, maybe? call me crazy, but i kinda feel for glen. i don't think he's the psycho he's meant out to be. same goes for Vincent; I never did think he was a bad guy. He's just got a lot of emotional/psychological baggage, poor guy. As for the baskervilles, they weren't really bad people, just VERY devoted to their master...but I guess that still isn't a reason to kill people...

UPDATE: ^ Totally called it lol

This manga has one of the most interesting plots I have come across. I love the characters. The art is great. This is most definately, without a question, a must-read. You'll be missing out if you don't at least give it a try.

Instead of beating around the bush like many manga does, it give you a fast paced plot where surprises always awaits you, that you can't stop reading it. It give you this feeling of wanting to find out more, as a mystery is unfold, there's another waiting just for you
Sometime at the start of a new arc, I was wondering : O... Is this a filler or random chapter? The answer is no. The chapter started out as something random that seems to be just for humour. However, it greatly prove me wrong, following on with the story with a greater plot in mind

Each new chapter reveals more about the story and the depth of each characters, and every chapter is informative, intense and wonderful. Every character is likable, at least for me, if you don't count the really really REALLY minor ones.

Art is beautiful, especially the colour arts. I say I like the artist designs and taste, the character design, background, clothes and others are nice

It also has really cute comedy inside along with the story. So... read it now!!!

Status when writing this: 29 chapters complete.

Why was he cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor into it all, and what does the organization known as Pandora want with him...?
