It's gone downhill..

I really have to say that I started reading this series since it had its very first few chapters. I really liked the series, I loved the developments between the characters, their friendship, Fubata's love towards Kou, Kou's gentle smile... But what's wrong with those recent chapters? The story becomes cliche and disappointing. Kou used to be a really nice guy and I really liked his relationship with Fubata. Until the short hair girl appeared in the series..

Seriously, is the mangaka trying to make things complicated so that Kou and Fubata can't get together? I understand Kou is sympathizing with that girl but it doesn't mean he can be such a jerk towards Fubata. He could have discussed the problem and explained the situation to Fubata and they could have known how to deal with it somehow. He didn't have to treat the girl he loves badly because he has to stay with another girl due to various reasons. The story has become so ridiculous and unrealistic. I also feel sorry for Touma. He's actually a good guy, but still has to be in this stupid love triangle and will surely end up getting hurt and rejected.

Still, I will keep reading this series to see if it gets any better. Sighs. It used to have great potentials but the mangaka really ruined it.

Ao Haru Ride was on the path towards becoming my favorite shoutout manga. Everything was top notch; the art--which thankfully hasn't wavered in beauty--the characters, the premise and the story. However, because it dragged on for SO long, stupid drama between the MC's kept popping out from thin air. Ao Haru Ride lost that homey slice-of-life feeling and soon turned into a soap opera. I would recommended reading the first 20 to 25 chapters because those were golden.

This is a great story to read if you want to feel lots of emotions. It's really good at the start, but as the story progress, you'll feel more and more angst, and want beat up the characters because they're being stupid. It's really frustrating. Oh well. Hope they will realise their mistakes sooner and have a happy ending!

The series started out interesting, although I really wish that Kou and Futaba aren't end game from how Kou's treating her. And Futaba still-- for whatever reason-- follows Kou like a lovesick puppy, even though she had a really shallow perception of his character to begin with.

The most interaction she's had with him (aside from fleeting ones in middle school) is in high school, where Kou acts like a nonchalant asshole. Idgaf if he's supposedly got a heart of gold, because his inability to translate that into action-- and still being liked despite of it-- is ridiculous.

I really wish that Futaba gave Touma a chance before going back en-route to Kou. Otherwise, I like the art and this mangaka's previous and less frustrating work, Strobe Edge.

Probably the best shoujo manga out right now. I find the story very realistic and though there are some cliche's used, it is done beautifully. Futaba is one of my favorite female heroine, I can relate to her in so many levels. I like that she is emotionally strong, honest and genuinely want to help Kou overcome his past. The plot is just amazing and I hope that it continues to be amazing. I can't wait until the new volume comes out 🙂 It is definitely worth it to read, I dont think anyone will be disappointed.

I can't rate it from just one chapter, but it's really good to far. The shoujo actually deals with some issues about how she stands out and that some friends betray her because of how she's pretty blah blah etc.. It also focuses on how she tries to change what she is(she doesn't like herself) and how she also empathises people that are similar to her(most likely characters that will become important later on), but she doesn't do anything like befriend them as she doesn't want to remind herself of the trauma from when she was ignored by everyone and became an outcast. So yeah, not those typical shoujo heroine problems. The male lead is actually interesting in my opinion. They were in love back then, but now things are different.

his parents divorced, he changed surnames, theres this sensei that looks like him but with his old "tanaka" surname and the past will reveal itself in the future chapters.

Pretty much, everything wasn't the same as back then and the girl only got to tell him now that they were in love, but like i said, its not the same. So, the guy is actually kinda cold and he keeps saying that he's changed and blah blah and even called her foolish for being used by friends(yep, he saw right through it). I hope to see lots of character development in the future. But, I love cold guys, so I love this series. Not to mention the heroine is a bishoujo. =Hawt guy with pretty chick =WIN. HAHA. I am also interested to see how the other characters that are being ignored somehow come together with the heroine. ^^ HOWEVER, the guy re-falling in love with the girl is gonna be veeeeeery interesting. =RECOMMENDED.

Awesome start, but...

Today I have reread first few volumes and caught up with this series. I had really fond memories of reading it before, but they were crushed today. I loved the story, really, and then suspicious friend with similar pain appeared, my "sickly childhood friend from past he feels sorry for" alarms went up and they weren't really wrong. Ew, love polygons.

At first I felt bad for Touma and I might have actually cheered for him, but I never really got why he fell for Futaba in the first place, it was just weird. He keeps seeming nice, but honestly, when he is with her, he just looks shallow, manipulative, scheming and sly. Probably because we aren't meant to feel all that bad for him since he is meant to lose anyway. I really don't sympathize with him now. I half-expected him to team up with Narumi to break Kou and Futaba up but I guess indirectly it happened anyway... Honestly, ever since Narumi appeared for the first time, the series really went downhill and as many others I wish it ended already. I might reread it then and skip like 15-20 chapters and pretend it was a great manga without that cliché lengthening of story noone (multiple love triangles, sorry feelings..) cares for in the middle. At this point I wish the reader gave more attention to Shuuko's love triangle since I actually love both sensei and Aya there. Aya go~!

I am still cheering for Kou, but I wish the mangaka would stop messing up his character. Honestly, I don't even feel it's been Kou for a while. Like someone else mentioned, he just feels awfully OOC. And I wish it stopped.

Before Narumi appeared, I'd have rated this series 9+ .. That time has passed. Now I just hope the unneccesary drama and cliché and general awfulness won't make for even worse rushed ending.

great, but frustrating

the heroine, futaba, is perfect. she's funny and friendly and still stands up for herself, and isn't the generic girly-girl heroine, something which i can really appreciate. the rest of the characters are all really entertaining too, and i love touma - she met him in a really funny way, and he's adorable and kind to her and really likes her.

but kou is the one who bothers me. i feel like he's using futaba, and it's so frustrating that she puts up with it. i get that she likes him, but in the later chapters he's just a terrible person, in my opinion, who thinks very selfishly and isn't honest with himself or others.

I honestly don't know why, but once a started reading the chapter after chapter 20, I got seriously pissed at Kou. I REALLY liked this manga at first but now its making me mad! -.-
She (the female lead) tries her hardest to help him out but instead he doesn't do much for her...thats what i am seeing.

I like this series. Not my most favorite but it's interesting to read. I find Kou to be indecisive and for once, I actually do not like the main hero very much. Like, he's just there for the storywise.I'm actually rooting for Kikuchi and Futaba! He should get a chance since he's such a sweetie :3

After reading chapter 22 >.>; I've come to really dislike Kou. Who knows what he's thinking but his actions, oh wow, you make mad. I don't know how the story will progress from there but I'm expecting it to be going downhill. Gonna be prepared for some frustration and rage!
