Pushy and sexual harassing male lead.
Tsundere heroine who melts every time he touches her.
Pushy and sexual harassing second lead who the dumb heroine continues to allow to hug, kiss and flirt with her.
The same cycle over and over. Very boring and repetitive. Slow with no real plot (and it isn't a fun "slice of life" vibe either). Looking at the rating, I'll add overrated.
Holy crap the MC is annoying. Dense to her feelings to an exaggeratingly stupid degree. The love interest is kinda the saving grace in all this but not by much. Typical shoujo cool guy on the outside but he's a complete cinnamon roll(It kinda satisfies the typical cute guy secondary love interest that never had a chance motif in a lot of shoujo manga).
As for the story its your typical fluff romance, girl learning to accept herself kinda deal. Generic but not terrible.
My subject comes pretty strong. But it is what this manga is about: a predatory fantasy in a "sweet, romantic, high school love story" clothing with pushy male lead and push-over female lead. (PJ1 summed it up!)
I read this a couple (?) of years ago and dropped it. Today while looking at another title, this popped up in my feeds: the worst of it. The extra chapter where: even though the FL resisted physically AND verbally, the ML still jumped at her, forced his tongue down her throat, pressed her down, etc. The fan service was indeed "hot-and-steamy" and all-kind of imagining with explicit language like "come"/ejaculate (this is health science, so calm your horses). "Did they do it?" "What is happening?" I can just hear girls squealing out of the comment sections on various sites while my eyebrows furrowed... hard.
The hell is it going on with this manga? Shoujo is meant for young girls demographic. And this is just toxic! Then I remembered a bunch of older shoujos like Fushigi Yugi, Red River, Kaitou Jeanne, Peach Girl etc. Whoops.
I kind of get how a teenager's body and mind reacts and develops different from adults. Sale is important for the survival in business and contribution in the economy. But they should do better. We should do better. I am uncertain if Japan is very liberal or very objectifying and oppressive these days - it's always dangling between these fine lines. But I agree with milkgreentea, girls will get impressions out of these works. And this is not romantic. It is not love. If this was to happen in real world, in the US for instance, imagine the sensationalisation coming from the media reporting a high school/college rape case. And there will be more coming to light, more progress made. So these shoujo mangas'd better catch up with the current and really do more than just pretty art.
P/s: I don't say that I didn't enjoy this kind of fiction growing up. But now it's different because I can reflect on how impressionable they can be and how they can morph one's thinking and development. Sure, one can say something like "who cares" and overlook this. Still. Be better, do better! Write better leads so that we readers aren't just amused, but can actually learn something from.
Its not as good as i hoped, the female lead is kind of annoying because shes so much like a tsundere, and the male lead is annoying, hes handsome but his selfishness is honestly a turn off, i feel like their type of relationship would not last in real life but since this is a fixed couple theyre obviously going to have a happy ending, i think that the 2nd guy is wayyy better than naruse. Tl;dr the manga is good if you only read it once and dont think too much about it, if you read it a second time you start to hate the characters
