Uhm....I don´t really know where I should start. Maybe I should start with saying that I strangely enough didn´t hate this manga, even though all the Ingredients that usually makes me drop a manga are contained here. Rather than hating it, I was disturbed by it.

I read it all, not because I particularly liked it, I was just in need of something to read. The story is basically about a Shemale getting sold on auction and then bought by a yakuza ( well he was not really yakuza, but I don´t know what else to call that guy. Also Businessman sounds to innocent to describe him ) and then made as a sex-slave against that The Ukes will, because he has a debt to repay. Sounds good enough for you smut-hungry people huh? Don´t think so.
This is by far the MOST disturbing manga I´ve read, not by term of tragic things happening, it was more like a feeling that you could call annoyance-disturbance. Every time that Yakuza forced himself on Ayase ( The Shemale Uke ) I just got this really disgusted feeling. Firstly, that Uke he forced himself on looked like 10-12 years old, even though the author clearly stated that he was 18 years old and going to University. But Noooooo, he looked more like a kid and sometimes it felt like I was reading a Shota, wich I hate….or wait I despise it. Secondly, the Uke looked so much like a GIRL and so effeminate that I didn´t know how to even react? I mean really? The whole effeminate and girly Image made him a boring and bland character, it felt like he didn´t have any personality and was just –going with the flow- all the time. Oh I should also not forget how every person who sees him falls in love with him, it was like the world have turned gay just for the Uke, because he´s so cuutsie and has this Sunshine-smile everybody loves. Third and most important, this should be tagged as a Shoujo and Harem…or no wait it´s reverse Harem because a girl ( The Uke could/should be called a girl, yes ) is surrounded by boys.

Maybe I should also give you a sneak-peak of how the seme and Uke had sex, It was usually along these lines;

Seme; I´m gonna juuuuump you nooooww * Has sex with Uke*
Uke; NOOOO DON´T * it feels soo good* NOOOOOO why does it feel good? Uuh criiies
Seme; DAMN IT WHY DON`T YOU LOVE ME EVEN THOUGH I RAPED YOOOU.

That goes on for about, let´s say 39 chapters. Now you probabaly ask yourself " wait that´s the whole amount of chapters that´s scanlated right now stunned ". Yeah well, we get to see that kind of thing the whooole amount of chapters that´s been scanlated and I know that we are also going to see more in the future.
No..... actually YOU people who are deciding to continue reading this shit is going to see more of this in the future. Me? I´m dropping it. Hey, what did you expect? Schwepps- add-style

Okay to sum this up, if you´re desperate read this. I´m giving it a 3 because I´m feeling generous today, if it was a normal day I wouldn´t even bother rating this. sigh I knew I shouldn´t give popular Yaoi a chance, I always get disappointed. I actually thought that the 203 people who rated this a 10 was kinda....youknow....wise enough to rate it a 10. But I was so wrooong. I need a shoulder to cry on, because I actually spent 1 day reading this.

My firs yaoi manga...doesn't meen I love it...

Well, how should I start? it was my first yaoi manga ever, so you can imagine the shock I had seeing Ayase. At first I thought: wtf? is it a girl? and yes, the way the characters are drawn it's unbelievably wrong and disappointing. But that time I thought it was good and I'm still emotionally bounded to it (first yaoi manga).
Now, I can't say the same, after discovering better ones. The story wasn't so bad in the beginning but turned out to be repetitive and the characters don't change much, not to say at all (same old same old: Ayase is always in danger and Kanou does everything to save him only to both end in the bed having sex...and every fucking male character wants a part of the uke). The development doesn't occur and it's getting boring and frustrating after a while because, let's face it: the manga is still ongoing and only 39 chapters appeared until now. Kind of slow, if you ask me.
Another point that I personally don't like is how Ayase is dressed: being realistic, he looks like an otaku that tries to copy some fantasy anime characters.
Some people say it's not realistic and no way in reality things could have an outcome like the one in "Okane ga nai". I consider it more like a distorted mirror of the reality.
I do not recommend it to beginners of the yaoi genre, because you will misunderstand the genre.
It's not that I hate it or love it, it's just another one in the reading list and waiting, hoping, maybe the authors will make it better from now one till the end. Otherwise, I'll live under the impression that the male authors wanted to mock the homosexual society creating extremely feminine uke (more like a flat-chested girl with a d**k) and a totally-denying-his-gay-nature seme (drawn 5 times bigger that the poor uke).

Hate it or love it?

Like what all my sempais said, it's depend.
I started to love it --i like the stereotype.
But as the story grows, the plot turn stale. it's repeating everything over and over again. in the end Kanou will come as superman and helped Ayase out. Ha! I thought it will be different from vol 5 up, but it still the same... and the newest plot just riddiculous.
I suggest you read the first part--it was a new plot since nobody else dared to put out a rape theme manga before. And i absolutely love this (until vol 5).
I dont know whether this counts as spoiler or not.

Lack of Development

You have to admit the story is quite unique. But the lack of detail about the characters was unbelievably unspecified. You couldn't make out what was what. Yes... You could understand the fact that Kanou loved and loves Ayase but you cannot understand why. I feel as if there has been no time put in to the characters.

No Plot/Character Development

Okane ga nai starts off with a rather typical yaoi fashion but one that has a lot of potential. As it the story progresses, major flaws become apparent and the lack of plot hardly becomes this manga's major flaw.

For starters, there is a complete lack of character development. As many earlier reviews mentioned, Ayase and Kanou's relationship hardly progresses. And it goes a little overboard with the numerous NUMEROUS rapes in the early volumes. Ayase is a little too accepting of these numerous violations with no apparent inner dilemma of any sort. Naivety can only work to a certain degree. Kanou is also obsessed with just being a complete bastard and treating Ayase like an object despite the fact he apparently has feelings for him. Their relationship lightens up as story progresses, especially the latest volume, but it's just awkward and doesn't feel resolved.

I compare this manga a lot to Yamane Ayano's Viewfinder for several reasons. They both contain mafia related elements and both involve rape of uke as the central starting point of the main couple's relationship. However, instead of the "let me be an asshole and rape you because I own you" its a "let me teach you a lesson with messing with me". While the former relationship should have many more issues to work out than the latter, there is a complete lack of this in Okane. On the other hand, Akihito of Viewfinder's character matures into one that ultimately accepts his and Asami's relationship. And Asami, while being a cold-hearted mafia boss that takes advantage of Akihito whenever he feels like it, truly cares for him. He rescues him on numerous occasions and even risks his life for him. While Viewfinder is indefinitely darker and more mature in tone, their relationship is acceptable versus Okane's which has far more comedic moments but just doesn't quite sit right with the reader. (Cute chibis/jokes/cosplaying of rapist/victim just don't do it.)

So please, Ayase, Kanou, get a shrink, work out those unresolved issues that you should have but apparently don't.

At, first i also thought that the manga would'nt be good, and when i start it, i fell deeply in love with it ! Ayase is just too cute i really like his reaction, and kano-san i really love how he treat ayase, but i thinks he could be a bit more gentle ! but it's really a cute manga, ther's no way to hate it ! ( only if you hate yaoi :S ) ♥♥ i'm really lookinf forward to the chapter 40.

ps : if you don't feel like reading it, i thinks you should see first the oav of it and you will want to read it .
( i did it like that cuz i really thought ( oh, what a stupid manga ) and i went to see the oav and i fell in love like this 😀

Perversion Made [Somewhat] Elegant

What LUEser said was wierd if anything, since yaoi is a genre for women, not gays. Thats why the uke (Yukiya Ayase) looks girly in the first place (although some yaoi can have manlier bishounen, i.e. stuff by Kazuma Kodaka, Youka Nitta or Ayano Yamane) so the female reader can somewhat relate to the uke. Kouno is an awesome seme to. But to be honest, Tohru Kousaka-san's art is somewhat clunky.

But there's also this, since this yaoi (BL) manga was written by two VERY straight, male authors, it has a subtle, obscure theme of sexism and male-over-female dominance, but its subtle/obscure because they just made Yukiya Ayase-kun into a "guy"... so it almost seems if No Money (Okane ga Nai) was more for a male croud, but doesn't score being offensive because its "two guys", the "manly manwhore x poor, abused chick-with-a-dick" type of pairing instead of "manly-manwhore x poor abused young women" pairing. For some reason, the first pairing seems less offensive to a women than the hentai-y second pairing.

I give this a 5/10 if anything.

I really did enjoy this series, as far as I got in it.
Which, was only the scans on the internet because my mom won't buy me it. Ehh.
In any case, Ayase-san is just so adorable that words haven't even been invented to describe him (I know, checked in the Thesaurus).
It was the first yaoi I ever watched, and because I liked those four episodes so well, I had to read the manga.
The more I read, the more I realize why each of them act the way they do in the relationship.
Kanou-san is angry because he Ayase-san still thinks that he's straight, despite how good he feels when Kanou-san touches him.
And Ayase-san is put-out because he doesn't want to have sex with Kanou-san just for money, and he doesn't want Kanou-san to think that's the only reason.
ALSO!
Poor Ayase-san always getting raped.
I've been screaming at my computer for the past couple days, saying, "YOU'RE AN IDOIT! JUST TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL!" or "JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE FOR A SECOND, KANOU! JUST---GREAT, SO JUST RAPE HIM AGAIN! THAT'LL WORK!"
All in all, I love it.

Ok, Ayase does look like a girl, but I think he's adorable. The only thing I didn't like about the art, is the proportions: Ayase is sometimes the size of Kanou's leg (lol) and it's a little weird...
I actually like the story, and didn't find that it got stale at all. I mean, yes, it may seem that the plot is in a endless plot-loop or something, but I find myself focusing on the relationship itself: Kanou trying to get Ayase to accept and love him, and Ayase's personality growth.
All in all, i would say give it a try.

PS I love the twins lol
