It’s a wild ride. I won’t lie, I was initially gonna DNF this, but Manta posted a keep reading post the other day and I decided to listen. Every single time I think I know what’s happening, I don’t.

Manta is on episode 34 and I’m on the EDGE of my seat with needing to know. So yeah, keep reading, push through.

i’ve read up to chap 31, and i’m a little confused about why the characters chose to do what they did in chapters 25-31?i can’t reveal any spoilers, but i guess i’ll just say it feels like there’s no real motivation behind some of their actions which feels like the author just adding unnecessary drama.

Ahhhhh, I really want to keep reading this one, but I think it is too heavy for me...
I have that strong feeling that everything will go wrong, you know?
And consideration the start of the story was already full of bad things happening... I think I will go search for spoilers before reading further.

Dark and beautiful

Did you like Flowers of Evil? Or, more generally, do you enjoy works of anguish/sin/forbidden acts? Even more generally, do you enjoy beautiful art and great storytelling?

The work is a masterpiece. It's exemplar not just because of the fantastic art style (which is pleasing to see as well as original and distinct), but because of the complexity of the characters, the storytelling, the role of morality, the potential for resolution.

I don't admire any character, at least not entirely. But the point isn't to fall in love with anyone, even if more often than not we want to have a magnificent protagonist. The FL and ML are worthy of sympathy, however, and I cannot wait to see how their story continues.

Underrated Beautiful Piece of Gothic Horror

It's a je ne sais quoi for me. A classic tale of a man and a devil but the author managed to develop it into a mix of romantic gothic horror and making the protagonist's broken sense of morality a parameter of conflict and tension. Most of the modern pieces of literature have difficulty shaping the simple personalities of people from a different era (like medieval) as a complex human without bending them to cater reader's modern sense of morality. Some authors tend to add a few modern ways of acting or thinking to make their characters the most complex and most progressive among the backward environment. But "The Devil" is different. The author knows how to exploit the simplicity of a medieval person as a complex person that can tell an interesting and intriguing story.

I might update this review from time to time. as for now, that's all I could think of.
Totally recommended for: people who like "Frankenstein" or "Wuthering Heights", those who like a medieval story at its closest form.
Really not recommended for: People who have weak heart, can't stand a story with an "incestuous" plot, sucker for girl-power story (or should I say KkoP*ge OP Female Lead story lol)

So basically this story, ironically, missed the whole demographic.

A little too tragic and twisted for my tastes

The main character is just too tortured and I’m
Not a big fan of stories that set up a large difference between the freedoms of men and women. It would me more acceptable if the comic was more smutty but the lack of smut requires the plot to be stronger in my opinion, which it is not. It is also a rather confusing political scenario.
