Echoing a lot of what other reviews have said, this is a lot of dumb comedy. So much so that it would sometimes go over the top and pull me out of the story, but nonetheless the overall start to this was interesting, fun, and addicting. There's just something attractive as a reader about a mentally strong female lead. She may not always be right but she holds her own and keeps her "modern" ways throughout without becoming a straight Mary Sue. She doesn't come off as abrasive or self-righteous, which is always a plus.
The Deus Ex Machina (which obviously for most reincarnated into a novel Tropes, there has to be some measure of) is actually just kind of annoying. I was curious up to the disatisfying end.
Our "god" both loves and hates humans, tests them, gives them chances, and just sits there and looks offended when FL calls them out, but to my knowledge of this story, hasn't done anything in this world! This god seems to only ever impact FL and no one else. If may be due to the lack of lore connecting this god to absolutely anything in this world besides the saintess, but they felt so disconnected from the actual progression of the story that I forgot about them until they Deus Ex machina-ed their way into being a nuisance at the very end and annoyed me. God can freeze time magically at the end of the story. God can actually send FL bank and forth-- surprise! Also, suddenly there is a rule about not telling the future? Since when? And if God only takes the forms of humans sacrificed to them, the dead king died of old age and disease, what did he get in return there? If god hates people being killed in war, that dead king should have been the bane of god's people, no? Also, for what purpose did our FL think going back to her holly jolly life as a retired athlete would do for the single week she was there? Like, excuse me? You didn't even try to (1) change anything or (2) even consider that everyone was surely going to be dead at the end of that book once you opened the Schrodinger's novel you came out of.
That being said, this is a very one-dimensional Fantasy Romance. Very little world building or other character development is at play. I also felt very little growth or development of the relationships between the characters except when I needed to be sufficiently creeped out. Its gags and a feeling of righteousness at seeing our protagonist win. Before the final arc, I would have given it a solid 7 out of 10 in execution and keeping me hooked. Art wise, its mediocre and fine, but it neither impressed me nor retracted from the story.
After that last arc, I felt gutted at the poor execution, nonsense explanations, and quick turnaround end. See above. It was a useless final excursion that was not necessary or helpful. Everything began to feel rushed in the final 25 or so chapters without a satisfying ending. I usually have sympathy for endings that may be forced due to an author on the chopping block, but considering the long 6 chapters of sode stories that doesn't help tie up those loose ends...I remain unimpressed.
TLDR: classic fantasy romance, strong female protagonist whose not afraid to join the fray. Mediocre to cute art. You can give it a chance for the gag jokes and having a fun time to see a strong female lead overcome obstacles and win, but would not reread. Rushed ending.
