Annoying and boring

It starts out decently with the usual "promise of a childhood friend" plot and the main character disliking her and the situation at first. Then it goes on in a very predictable fashion, with slightly annoying and cliché situations occuring, with rather uninteresting characters and sometimes absurd reactions.
It's a decent manga... but nothing special.

First off i want to say i really liked it when it just first started. . everything was simple, girl arrives and changes everything. . a little love triangle here and there. . the supporting characters had significant influence on the story and they where part of it unlike now. . it was all good up until he chased eba to tokyo. . everything went downhill from there. . new characters where introduced yeah they were important but what about the early supporting characters? their existence just suddenly dwindled. . and what really ticked me off is eba. . if she loves haruto so much why would she break up with him for some dying person. ." selfishness is not a sin! its what makes us human!" as the story progresses it just went to full retarded. . If you found someone new who loves you, cheerful, never cheated on you. . why the f*ck would you dump her and choose eba the girl who chose a dying dude on a whim just because she felt sorry for him!? to me that is just retarded (there is the saying of "move on"). . Right now the story is near non existent its now an episodic slice of life in tokyo. . But the thing that makes it even weird is the transition of this manga. . this manga was originally a shounen. . as you continue to read it becomes a seinen (you don't put sex on shounen, only ecchi) a really average one at that. . all in all it was good at the beginning which captured the title Kimi no Iru Machi = a town where you live. . the story in that town really captured the title but now its just not there. . you dont even know the name of town anymore. . The story is already finished all it needs is the end. .

I don't understand the negative reviews for this one ? sure it has some rage moments but at the same time every chapters connects well when it comes to building relationships and character development

i am a big fan of the author since his "Suzuka" days, and i highly recommend his new masterpiece to everyone

i think this is a good romance manga....though i admit it is little static in the latter stage...but i m not agree when people said that haruto and yuzuki are not good character...i think their character are not changable throughout the manga but their maturity are....you know when yuzuki said to haruto that they shouldn't see each other anymore after kazama died..i really understand why she said it.it's bcoz she know that haruto blamed himself a bit when kazama died.she knew that haruto always in guilt if he's with her...and in haruto mind he said he doesn't love yuzuki anymore out of guilt although deep in his heart he still much in love with yuzuki....when haruto broke up with asuka to be with yuzuki, i think he made the right choice.....he knew he couldn't make asuka happy when he knew he still love yuzuki very much that will be unfair to asuka...sooner or later asuka would be hurt no mater what....and i think the manner of his break up with her, he is sure gentleman...i think not many man would have done better like he's done...i admit he's not perfect but is anyone perfect in this world.....i only give rate 9/10 bcoz there are nothing perfect in this world...

About Kimi no Iru Machi, I got to chapter 187 and concluded that that is where these silly drama shenanigans should end... but I fear it's gonna go on more ages and ages more.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Do note, also, that the name of the chapter is called "Goodbye". Maybe that could have been a good place to stop? (Though noting, there probably would be questions {which I can't remember} that would be left unanswered.)

Until this point, I really did enjoy the series, artwork, plot, characters (except for Haruto, until which I finally garnered respect for him waaaaaay later into the series), but now I'm just a tad reluctant to continue..... perhaps I'll put this on pause until SEO Kouji ends it, and then I'll see if my heart can finish absorbing the (sometimes pointless) drama.

Hugely Underrated

I've been following this manga for a while; I remember when the chapter with Haruto's "mistake" came out - you could see the ratings visibly plummet on mangaupdates.

Do yourself a favor and ignore the ranty reviews, go and check out yongzhi93's comment for a fair, decently objective perspective.

To add some things to his review
a) This manga is largely character-driven. I can understand why people might call the plot occasionally shallow or lacking, but even these "fillers" have purpose - they help build relationships. There is excellent character development.
b) Yes to cliche. It's a shounen manga. Panty shots, unlikely cooincidences, etc. But it far from detracts from the story. The characters are very "real" in their emotional complexity, and this mangaka is a master at depicting even the smallest nuances of physical expression.
c) Don't expect this manga to be innovative, or surprise you with the plot. But it takes a tried and true formula and executes it exceptionally well.

As someone already mentioned that plot is completly random without any interesting characters. You may try to read it even after seeing this comment, but you are warned!...... A complete waste of time. Even if you have extra time, dont read it. Go to forums and check for a good reccomendation which is worth the time.

Random things no plot

I've read until the latest chapter, 175.
It used to have plots, even though..

I do not like how he chose Eba after years with another girl, so unfaithful. But at least it had plot. The plot has gone since issue with Eba's parents.

It's all only chapters of fillers.
Unfortunately, I do not like dropping things, especially after reading so many chapters.

This series is really interesting! I started reading it about a year ago after reading and loving Suzuka. At first i thought it was kinda dull but the constant plot twists and cliffhangers have kept me hanging on. there have even been a few times when i cursed the scanlators for leaving me wondering what next!
This manga has set a permanent place in my heart and mind for a long time to come and I look forward to future chapters.

I rated this on a 10 but I really want to bring the average of votes higher. I'd give this manga a true rating of 8.5/10. It was thanks to yongzhi93's post that I was convinced and able to pickup this manga and read it non-stop for a day... Although I may not entirely agree with all that he described, I can say his review was spot-on for a lot of topics. This manga is truly not one to sleep on, prepare yourself for an experience of a lifetime. I hope this turns into a j-drama someday, cause it would be really fun..
