Description
From Crunchyroll:
How far would you go for true love?
All his friends said he was just being "stupid" and "delusional," but Haruto couldn't give up on her. Yuzuki, the girl who showed up on his doorstep one day, stole his heart the next and then left just as abruptly as she arrived. With the faint hope of rekindling the romance they'd shared, Haruto decides to pursue her, moving away from the rural outskirts of Hiroshima to the big city of Tokyo.

The setting is based on the author´s hometown.

Wrong heroine...

If the story would have had another heroine.. OTL There were a bunch of better girls, I waited until the end to read it only to find, since volume one, a disappointing female lead. More than 10 or 15 girls and 0 infidelity... Where's the reality in that?

Just read yongzhi93's review

First of all, yongzhi93's review is incredibly on point.

Some points I'd like to emphasize:
1. This manga is not so much focused on the plot, so many have complained that it's the normal predictable stuff.
2. Despite that, the charm of this series comes from the characters and their growth. I would definitely say that all of the characters felt very real when it came to major decisions. I gotta say that anyone who disagrees with this point is not in touch with reality. That said, some situations that arise and maybe some side characters are not the most realistic.
3. Another source of negative reviews for this series stems from
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the main character choosing his ex over his current girlfriend of 1.5 years. It's as if all of these reviewers don't understand that it's possible, not to mention common in real life, to have romantic feelings for more than one person. Here the main character makes the honest decision to break up with Asuka because he truly has stronger feelings for the Yuzuki. It's much more horrible to Asuka to stay together if he loves someone else more.
Many reviewers disagreed with this decision in particular and have rated this series very negatively. I'd just have to say that not only do I feel that the main character made the right decision here, I also feel that just because the main character does something wrong or stupid does not make the manga itself bad. Not only that, I feel like there was enough leadup to this moment where it should not have been that huge a shock.
5. This manga has many very touching moments, not related to the core romance. This is definitely one of the strong points as the series goes on.
6. One of the main flaws with this series is the number of girls falling for the main character. It's kind of ridiculous. This gets better towards the end as the girls find other guys, but for a majority of the series it feels like everyone's in love with the main character.

too long....predictable..self deprecating

it was rather good in the beginning...amazing in potential in fact..... then..... it slowly went to hell
in the name of "drama" stupid predictable crap patterns happening left and right.... bringing shallow "depth" and "growth"....

serously...i dont mind long series..in fact in many cases i love them... but this seemed milked...not just ecchi fanservice wise...but other types of fanservice in terms of events or type of specific development that is not tht necessary to move along the plot in a creatively good direction.....

seriously this should have finished up in the 4-5th volume...thats the amout of good material is in there and it would be a 9 or 10 even..... but..... man.... even if it didnt..it should have been killed by the mangaka or the publisher by 12.....and even that would have been better than how i see it now....

A Town Where You Live...

Perhaps, this story may have surpassed Suzuka in the harem stats, however, Suzuka displays more of a realistic romantic perspective. Despite its unnecessary length and the MC's ridiculously multiple encounters with girls, Kimi No Iru Machi proves to be a solid first read.

Decent, but frustrating

Art is good, characters and story is believable. I gave it a go till 119, and then just stopped though. Why? Because the way some of the main guys/girls act is so frustrating, its making me rawr. Seriously.

There are a lot of different kind of people out there, so if it seems that everyone is the same, it might be a result of not knowing someone well enough. So noone is bound to behave according to someone's expectations just because his expierence is limited and mind - closed. With that being said: characters and their lives in this manga are believable; same goes for situations they are in. The art is decent as well.
Good, above average, romance manga. If you believe in romance, that is. wink

Excellent drama and romance

Probably would be the best shounen romance I've read yet, if the ending can close properly.
While it's not the most innovative in terms of plot or characters and it does use many clichés, the personalities are exquisitely developed.
Be warned though, it'll be a rollercoaster of emotions with Haruto, the MC.
Admittedly the beginning can turn a lot of readers off. I had to give it a second chance myself because the MC seemed so unrealistically pathetic. The start aside, the story progresses at a leisurely pace going from the troubles of Highschool to the working reality. Many of the twists and relationships are predictable, but some can truly leave you breathless. The artwork is very good, the tact in the sexual aspects is surprisingly respectful, the story is fine and a joy to read.

By the same mangaka who did Suzuka (with a lot less cringe imo), relationships are built, broken and reconstructed in an entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable manner.

Its actually a pleasant read. Very realistic and it srly it feels like you grow up along with them. However, the main guy has wayyyyyy too many girls falling in love with him. It got so annoying. But I loved it when he was with Eba..so cute.

my thoughts have changed

A while back, I wrote about this manga saying it was both good and bad. That hasn't changed, but I've changed my perspective on it somewhat. After reading the final chapter and thinking over the entire series, I can honestly say it's one of the best ive ever read, but the story tends to drag and become boring. The ending to Kimi no iru machi, perfectly sums up what this story is all about. A great read, but you need to have a bit of faith when the story becomes stagnant. Enjoy smile
