21 Volumes (Complete)

The first arc was interesting, it is a typical journeying battle manga. The parts with Nami were pretty funny. And the characters were very complicated yet their motives and intentions were quite clear.
After the 2 years, that's when the story became extremely convoluted. Heart? Soul? Hirose is like invincible but he can be stopped too? The military is not good or bad - they're just there to get in the way with no clear goals... The Mitani kid or whatever he is, the soul guy - what the heck is he, good or bad? Megu becomes a total shell of a character, and she is there to confuse rather than to bolster the story. What the heck is Katsumata's real goal? They explain it superficially that his role was to gather the heart, but it doesn't make sense in terms of his real motives, and (spoiler) he is removed from the story in such an anticlimatic way. For someone so central to the story he just fades out throughout the story until later you realize that when he's gone, you didn't know why he was there in the first place.
The strongest characters are the mains - Taisuke, Nami, and Yuuki. The rest of the characters come off as sympathetic, but their goals and their means change so many times you don't really know what's going on. And Hirose - he's just like Tetsuo from Akira I think. And he makes even less sense than Tetsuo did. He has no clear goals. He wants to see his friends, but he doesn't. He felt alone in the past but he still loved his friends in the past. He regains his senses but still wants to kill his friends. Was he controlled by Katsumata all along? But how come he doesn't turn back to normal? Was he really a bad person? It makes no sense. Hirose is one of the worst villains in all of manga I think. This whole is-he-good-or-bad confusion is as strong here as in Tenjou Tenge.
The abilities are pretty cool, the action is well paced, and the superficial story is quite structured and good. However, you'll be scratching your head over the true intentions and limitations of the villains, the roles of the various factions in the story such as Katsumata and the Army, and what exactly this story is ultimately about.
I've read the whole thing so far and I am not satisfied with the way the characters and their motivations has been written. There is no solid resolution and it's merely conflict piled over conflict over conflict. So many of their actions contradict each other without a clear change of heart or a true epiphany. This makes it very frustrating for the reader.
Much like a drive down an empty desert in a drunken stupor, you'll find yourself with a lack of awareness about your surroundings, but you'll enjoy the ride.
This manga has decent art.
The plot is interesting too. (There are several arc to it.)
Although this turn out to be another super power and hot-blooded teenagers manga. (etc. bleach, one piece where protoganist is strong.)
Overall, its still is enjoyable for the first arc.
it might start all normal but then the suicide thing happens of course you already knew that was gonna happen what you didn't know was that was almost completely irrelevant it just serves as a jump into a battle / romance / friendship manga with heavy psychological overtones that said the main lead is a unbearable naruto type character who can't believe that his best friend tried to kill him add in the fact that the best friend kidnaps this sakura type character yada yada yada you will love the villains hate the bleach like way that none of the main character friends die and the relationship you want to happen don't. all in all it is a good manga just more of the type you watch like a movie instead of getting into it
I think the description is a bit misleading to what it's actually about - the suicide virus aspect quickly falls into the background. For the most part it's kids with superpowers chasing other people with superpowers, with fights whenever one group runs into each other.
Despite the concept being nowhere near as interesting as you'd think from reading the description, it's well executed.
this manga took me by surprise. dont be fooled by the last 2 comments. when it starts off ur like ''ok normal good shounen manga'' but then just like its title it comes alive and totally evolves into something grand. one of my top favorites. do yourself a favor and read this
I can not believe that I went and read so much of the story. I quickly realized that the artwork is sub-par but the other problems have to do with the story itself. While I have to admit that the quality of the story is high, the feeling of the manga is the same that you get from death note and other such very dark well written pieces. Not worth reading unless you like dark and depressing and evil.
A very ugly type of story that delves deep into the worst of human nature.
I can't believe this manga got a 8.8 rating damn. Oh well i actually didn't like this manga because it feautres you typical hero who still believes in a friend that actually tried to kill him and also kidnaps his other best friend--that girl. After reading naruto, i just coudn't handle going over that frustration again. Yes the villains are interesting but you are not supposed to root for the villains, you are supposed to root for the hero and so hero's character has to be good and unique and it just isn't. I read 30 chapters of this and just gave up because of this dude. Also the hero's allies generally do not die and that is frustrating. Other than the hero's character this manga is ok i guess. Art is good and plot is ok though cliche at times but cliches work sometimes so i don't mind. Others might like this more if they like heroes who are fully good and naieve but i don't.
The manga had a great start with brilliant character development. The plot is great though it was a little more shallow after the first arc. This manga is definitely worth reading.
I have too much homework and because of this (freakin addicting) manga now I have to be up till 3am; great. Anyway, I came across this manga 4 hours ago, couldn't stop reading, neglected my tremendous amount of homework, and finished up to volume 18 already.
thats all imma say since im in a hurry. hope it was useful. oh, and usually i dont read manga like this, or with this kind of art but im addicted.
Word of advice: Make sure you aren't busy, or I gaurantee you won't get anything done-__-
I like the story until 1st arc finish... After taisuke's gone and found out again, the story seem less attractive. And anyways, the artwork is the one i trully admire. For characters, i don't really like the taisuke's character... sometimes he could be a dumb. He remainds me of naruto, but naruto's better..
