This manga was made entirely for fun. People who criticize it are taking it much too seriously.
I first read this manga years ago and to this day enjoy reading it again and again after all these years. The plot is the love between a headstrong girl and a guy who has a childish side yet is very smart and how thier different personalities match up with fun and wacky stories in these chapters. It is a very charming series. It puts a smile on my face at the cuteness, sexiness, and funniness of it. It was not meant to be taken so seriously. People who put this manga down should lighten up.

Also for the comment "otakuness" left, you do NOT get breast cancer from someone licking and pressing your breasts. That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard in my LIFE. I'd be hard-pressed to find another series more mindless and sappy than this one; it's chock full of clichés, made little sense and had epic plot holes. That said, I was in the mood for something cute and really fluffy, and Hoshigari Love Dollar more or less did the job. If you ignore the pointless smut, that is. The only requirement to get maximum enjoyment out of this is to switch off your brain, because your mind will start whirling if you think about it for more than a few seconds.

There's literally no real plot. Basically, Omi falls in love at first sight with Matsuri and promptly chases her around for 2 chapters, wearing her down with his enthusiastic advances so that she agrees to get engaged to him and live with him. It's silly and senseless, but the remaining chapters are all filled with fluffy moments, obviously engineered misunderstandings (so that they'll once again "prove their love") and the requisite bed scenes. Yes, in every single chapter. Putting aside the fact that they are both 15-16, it's terribly unnecessary and actually ruins whatever romance was building. Having read all the oneshots and another of the author's work, however, it's obvious that this is her idea of being romantic, because I've yet to read a chapter without the couple doing it. Ah, well.

I rather liked Matsuri, the main female character; she generally gives as good as she gets, whether it's Omi who's earned her wrath or someone else. I almost cheered when a jealous girl dumps wine on her and bullies her, and Matsuri slaps her right back. Sure, Matsuri agreed to be Omi's fiancée too quickly, but it's pointless to expect anything in this story to make sense. Omi's childish self is also pretty cute.

Unfortunately, the ending was (if possible) even more ridiculous than the rest of the story.

All in all, I really wouldn't recommend this unless you're in the right mood and feel particularly tolerant of idiocy. Hoshigari Love Dollar can be cute in its inanity, but there are plenty of better options for cute fluff that I would consider first.

Well I mean it was funny and had a cute side I guess .. but I have trouble with the weird consistency of the story .. what was all that about .. one moment he's younger than her , then their are both 16 then after xmas he's a 18 years old that going bankrupt... and what with the weird racial vibe ... with nobody like him because he was asian and all that !!

i think i dislike it... i mean at first i thought teh girl was strong but she fell for him oh so fast i mean he was cute and rich and a super genius... but he was throwing himself on her like that... and they dont even know each other right?? i mean that ws creepy and if i were here i would hate him and he ws like raping her!!

and they were so young and yeah... i am not okay with 15 and 16 year olds having sex everyday like that... it was weird... and whats with the author always making the same thing over and over again!! i mean wouldnt Matsuri have breast cancer with all the licking and pressing?? i mean the supposedly "hot" love scenes didnt seem that hot to me... it was weird because they were like so sweet and "our love is pure" on the previous pages the they will do it out of the blue?? the smut only ruined it for me!! the drawings are cute but... the smut ruined it!!

and yeah another thing... they were all like quarelling all the time, becaus ethe girl was like really jealous and then she would get really annoyed at the guy for some reason and they would misunderstand each other and then in the end its always guranteed that tehy would have sex... its retarded!!! and really annoying!! this series makes me wanna vomit my brain...

actually i only read it because it has been on my wishlist for a very long time now... right now i was wondering why i even put it there... boy what was i thinking??

i have now finished it...actually i was rolling my eyes the whole time.. i mean.. the pureness of love was like gone!!! they are only kids.. 15 and 14ish and they are doing it almost everyday?? wtf?! <anyways.. i also know the fact that they grew but.. it still started that way> anyways.. its boring as hell but since im a fan of "years after" endings.. then i will not diminish my score anymore..

This manga is great!!! The main character guy is so cute and is such a sweetheart!!! Not to mention, VERY hot!!! Expecially during the "love scenes"!!! I recommend this manga highly!!!!

Yup this is cute i think the idea of the rich kid still acting like a teen and not being good at everything (he sux a tenis but u find that out) is refreashing .. but yea i like it

Its pretty good...at least my first opinion on it from the first chapter -.- since thats all there is..for now..^^; I think its good
