So I read about ten or so chapters and caught up to the latest (56). The plot moved forward and family dynamics improved, but honestly instead of being wholesome and cute I was just kind of tired of the male lead being a completely isolated clingy child somehow play-acting as a husband. And the female lead still treats him as a child and acts like a mom so it’s just weird. If there’s not a time skip soon where at least the male lead isn’t portrayed as a very needy and clingy child I’ll be dropping this.

This one’s really cute!
I agree, the dynamic between the FL and ML as children is definitely adult sister taking care of her kid brother, so it is a bit weird knowing the ML loves her like more of a parental figure than anything… but as with any transmigrated into the body of a child novel, not much you can do about that I guess. I prefer the FL acting like a sensible woman rather than a child. The characters just go along with how she acts like an adult despite being ten.
That issue aside, I have many good things to say! I really like how despite having knowledge of the novel, the FL has to figure stuff out for herself since she’s changing the trajectory of the story. No one, including her, knows how the future will turn out and it keeps me interested in what’s going to happen next.
The male lead is characterized really well! You can see him flourish and grow as a kid, his motivations for acting cute towards the FL (because he wants love), and later on how he changes as he becomes more confident and secure. I can see him becoming a suave man and charming the FL once they’re both older.
I should also mention, as a fan of romance I’m so happy the author decided the “original” novel was an R18 trashy romance ahahaha. The scenes where the FL’s like “oh right this is the world of an R18 book” are hilarious or very squeal-worthy or both! They are done very well and I am very much looking forward to these scenes when both the characters are older.
I’d say the two critiques I have are that so far there aren’t many side characters so it’s rather focused on just the FL and ML, and that so far there isn’t too much adversity that anyone’s facing. Honestly though, I’m okay if it stays that way because stressful situations aren’t great for my heart.
I wouldn’t say the art’s gorgeous, but it’s good and the children sure are cute (and the emperor hot)!
This is an overall lighthearted and very cute read 🙂
