A shoujo romance manhua that actually shows instead of telling us the romance?! What the hell. Amazing.

I'm so glad the FL, Li Wenxin, not only recognizes she's a Mary Sue character but pokes fun at it. It makes sense for all the young, good looking men falling for her because she's the embodiment of that trope.

I respect the villainess for her schemes but I don't respect the fact that she's still trying to hurt someone who could have helped her. She may have falsely offered to help Wenxin but Wenxin, who has this strange ability, would have offered genuine help because she would see that they are both struggling for the EXACT same thing. Just plain ol' equality.

It's the insidious, institutionalized misogyny they need to team up to defeat. Unfortunately the villainess didn't have the benefits of a modern woman's education to help her see her situation clearly. Instead she's using the same fear mongering, threatening tactics men often resort too. (Then again plenty of real life women who are highly educated will still stupidly, violently and gleefully stab themselves metaphorically in the eye with a rusted fork despite knowing the potentially deadly outcome with just a vague word or look from a man.)

The villainess is a tragic Pick-Me, not realizing Pick-Me girls (and boys and everyone of any gender/sexuality) are actually self-defeatists. They'd already given into the "enemy" which is so-called traditions and "common knowledge" that women are inferior to men. These Pick-Mes bolster and uphold the the sexist culture/standards rather than fighting against it for change and a better future.
