For a Mitsuki Kako series this started out really well. Of course, it's still kind of cliched, but it's not overly weird (yet), which is making me really excited about it... The thing about Mitsuki-sensei is that inevitably, most of her series turn me off because it's just so sappy and the guy is all over the girl (which seems just so unrealistic to me, idk). Of course, she still has the usual small, cute, slightly dense heroine, plus the v. attractive and mysterious male lead who is, in this case, also dangerous. And she sets up the romance (and a few possible plot threads) right off the bat. And yet~ This doesn't have too much of the cliched guy-molesting-girl-ishness that also characterized Mitsuki-sensei, so far!!! TT__TTTT (Well, towards the end... but I mean, it's understandable that she wanted some sort of easy cliffy.)
I'm hoping that this trend holds up, and that Mitsuki-sensei can write something (besides Ai Hime) that is worth calling shoujo!!! O_O Plus the main dude reminds me, startlingly, of Oguri Shun when he was in Gokusen, aaah.. 😀 Pretty. xDD (I love his hair, for some reason)
Sorry. It's late, and I'm just so happy to find out that maybe Mitsuki-sensei is maturing as a manga-ka that my usual integrity as a fangirl (ha, is that an oxymoron?) is eroding.
It might be too much to hope. I'm scared to see whether she ends up reverting to cliches after all, but at the same time I'm really excited to see what she does next... crosses fingers PLZ MITSUKI-SENSEI. Plz do something that is worthy of standing next to Ai Hime!!
