Description

We all know the fairytale: the glass slipper, the not-so-pretty stepsisters, and a night with the prince until the clock strikes midnight. I have been reincarnated into that classic story, not as Cinderella, but as her "wicked" stepmother! Widowed twice by age 37 and with three daughters, my goal is to make sure all will have suitable partners and their own happily ever afters and maybe a nice future for me as well! But who is this handsome young baron that keeps approaching me?

Pleasant slow manga

This is a nice josei! The female lead is a mother, and she really is a good mother to her daughters. Unlike a lot of other isekai manga, her daughters are actually already of marrying age and she's rather old at 37. So far there's been no mention of her previous life so IDK how old she was before, but she does actually act like a mature mother figure and that's nice to see.

The plot's moving at a very slow place and in this case several parts of the plot do seem a bit obvious, but nevertheless I'm very excited for when everything is revealed. That this story is about an older woman and younger man is interesting, though how he seems to have fallen and devoted himself at first sight is a bit questionable. I've also got mixed feelings since while the female lead is 37 she really does look the same age as her daughters if you discount the clothing, so it feels a bit like cheating if the age difference doesn't look like an age difference at all?

That being said, the art is pretty and all the men sure look handsome! The romance is a slow burn for sure, so fingers crossed to a very satisfying conclusion to that. I love it when authors / artists are able to show a person's interest and feelings with actions rather than with words, and that is certainly the case here.

I can't say this is an exciting manga or anything - it's more of a relaxing slow story. I'm happy with it and waiting for season two.

The title itself (peak) it's self explanatory
The plot was very original to my suprise (at least to me) , main casts were handled well
Best thing about this manhwa is it's emphasize on familial bond / mother's love rather than the romance (this being very slow paced)
Downside of most manhwa is the expression of the characters is less expressive relative to manga (those i read)
(As of chapter 40) hopefully the quality persist

A Delightful Slow Burn Romance With An Emphasis On Family

Favorite Aspect: Elegant and grounded storytelling, pertinent jokes, and an emphasis on family bonding. Oh, and the love interest is extremely suave.

I regret ignoring this webcomic for so long due to my mixed opinions of uninspired fairytale re-tellings. The main character Mildred is elegant and humble without sacrificing her dignity or honor. She has a very "Give none take none" mature outlook, and her confident attitude is infectious and makes for a relaxing read.

As a girl who grew up with two sisters and a single mother, the emphasis on healthy familial bonding and relationships is so deeply touching. Likewise, as I grow on in my years I can really empathize with Mildred's desire to do well by her children, and her drive to do anything for their well-being. I hope these themes continue throughout the duration of the comic.

I adore a good, well paced slow burn. Mildred's encounters with Baron Wilford are almost like a whimsical dance. His playful personality and mysterious inclinations are an excellent springboard for Mildred's wit and eloquence. Their slowly escalating relationship is a story I am very much enjoying.

The title is deceiving indeed, but

The MC mistakenly thinks this is a Cinderella story, but it isn't. She's hasn't transmigrated in a body of a villanness step mother. The Cinderella is the queen. The step daughter hasn't even been abused I certainly agree on some points though, but I personally liked this because it's a bit different. This plays more like a slice of life than a whimsical fairy tale, which I actually prefer. I like the MC's maturity, she definitely acts the age of the body that she transmigrated in.

“I raised Cinderella Preciously” has about as much relevance to it’s namesake as cabbage does to ham. There is something very off about this manhwa. The premise is theoretically good and nothing looks particularly bad (I even liked the effort to make the two step-sisters look uglier than Cinderella lol). But where is the whimsy? The fairytale aesthetic? The follow through on the primary conceit of Cinderella (aka the horrible family environment being rectified)? Cinderella’s abuse is noted once – that she was treated as a maid for 6 months – and we see a little bit of Cinderella’s and the step-sisters resulting attitude at the dinner table for a nanosecond in the first chapter. End of. Cinderella is officially over and we moved on to a dime a dozen, boring fantasy for older women. I don’t think anything comes across well in this story. Characters and their interactions feels stilted and facile, each scenario has been boring, poorly developed and uninteresting and the presentation of the story in every aspect is totally bland and one note. BiggusDickus2 is correct when they say Milfred reads as a Mary Sue, but she’s also an incredibly boring one at that. There is just nothing about this story that is making me want to read further, and I find the character interactions actively repellent.

EDIT: acknowledging theLettuceGarden04's point about the plot which I was unaware of given only reading 14 chapters. That is interesting but I will leave this dropped for now. I can also understand your enjoyment of the more grounded aesthetic and the mature main character!

Average Story Done Right?

It's a tad bit too early to judge, but this story seems to be one of the more predictable, cliche familial love stories. While it doesn't make use of tactics like incorporating drama and catfights for tension, OPness, dragging out situations/misunderstandings, etc it's not particularly innovative, memorable, or complex. It's not even unique.

I also feel like the MC is a bit of a mary sue, but not an obvious one. Not explicitly stated to be perfect, but perfect in theory. She's more of a character in a story/trope rather than a human being...which is weird because she is the one from our world that transmigrated to a fictional setting.
