Some of these stories were pretty good--nothing spectacular. I would liked to have seen the first story (The Prisoner by Takanaga) expanded since the incident that the two characters discussed seemed pretty interesting. Sex wouldn't need to be involved at all; it would definitely have been nice to see more.
Also, it would have been nice to have some kind of warning that there was rape in story #4 (Senpai, Mayu and Me), because I was completely taken off guard by the sexual assault in it. Murasaki, the main character was interested in his senpai and followed him around like a little puppy. Okay. Cute enough. But then there were those who...
...admired Murasaki for his rare, human appearance, especially these particular three random side characters who sat there and conspired to gang rape the Murasaki. While he wasn't raped by all three of the side characters, one of the side characters was in the actual process of raping Murasaki when his love interest finally stepped in...and then Murasaki and his beloved senpai proceeded to have passionate sex probably not an hour after he'd been f*cking sexually assaulted. It's like the Murasaki had completely forgotten the incident and went into full wanton mode the minute his senpai confessed that he was actually interested in him. I mean, really? Then, to top it all off, not only was the incident made light of in the end with the mangaka focusing on the three offenders, it was also blasted into a straight up comedy skit with the three having targeted another person as their object of interest. ...Really? sigh Not cute, not cool, not romantic. It was actually quite stupid and, to be honest, it really annoyed the hell out of me.
.
Story #4 went from 1 to 100 and back to 1 so fast that I couldn't even wrap my head around it. Honestly, I felt kind of ripped off when I read it and wished that the darn thing had been excluded from the entire collection. That's just my opinion, but I really, really disliked it and again, this needs a rape tag thrown in there. Not harping on it, but it would be nice to warn future readers who may dislike those kinds of things.
I really enjoyed "My Master" by Naono Bohra.
Could have done without story four and there's nothing spectacular here, but it's a pretty nice collection overall.
