Wow man this was a really awesome series man. The art, story, action were all great but the best part was the development of the main Character. All i can say after reading this is what the hell, cause the ending came out of nowhere for me. It seems like there was tons they can still do, and so much was unconfirmed man. This was really an annoying out come to a great series. The author did set up a lot of foreshadowing for the future so im really hoping hes making a sequel to this. I mean seriouly there are a TON of plot holes and questions left like (warning major spoilers so dont read if didnt finish):

I mean what happened to kaneki?is he dead? What happened to Amon? is he dead? what happened to Hide?, what was with him?is he dead and how? what happened to Anteiku? are they all dead? What was with the "Pieriot"?, What happened to Rize and the Manager? One eyed king etc, Aogiri etc, etc etc etc.... There's SOOO much missing info and if this doesnt get a sequel im not ever gonna read this again cause it will always disappoint me. I rate this a 10 cause it is a great series but i may lower it later (to just 9 or 8 probably) if it stays with a unfulfilled ending like this

I hope there is a sequel planned because the ending was a disaster. It is far too open ended to be conformable with. There are so many questions. I also agree with some of the other comments the art need to be addressed it lack in so many ways, when Hide was shown to be the informant, I could not recognize him even after his identity was reveled I was so confused because he looked so different.

Also, why is it that almost no ghouls died but the investigators get killed left and right.

Gleaming potential, exciting action, interesting ideas and creative concepts-- ruined, by the absolutely dissappointing, confusing, anti-climatic end.

What's wrong with the end, you say?

Pretty much everything:

pacing was shot to bits-- with confusing, almost random timeskips.
untied plots; there was SO MUCH to be explored that was glossed over or ignored
literally almost-random characters were just thrown in, no development, they just happened to appear

Devastating, really, because this series really had it going.

It feels like the author just GAVE UP, and tried to finish everything really quickly--you could see he had it all initially planned (foreshadowing, clues etc!!!!), but 5-10 chapters towards the end the manga just collapsed into a rushed, pathetic 'climax'.

What happened? So many questions and answers and feelings, lost to black scribbles and wtf random time skips.

There has to be more.

Don't read, unless you can tolerate bad endings, and i'm talking REALLY bad endings for something that was so, so good...

good story, awesome character designs (oh, i love Kaneki's mask) and horrible ending...
i don't know how to rate this manga -.- i wanna give 10 for the designs, i also wanna give 8 for the story but the ending does not even deserve to be 1 -.-
i wonder what happened to the mangaka, did he run out of idea or he was not in good mood to make a better ending or he got bored with the manga...

Almost everyone agrees that the story is pretty cool, however, it has a very fast pace going on, all the stuff happen really fast and so little explanation to whats important was giving. therefore, the ending was a real disappointment. I'm just hoping that the mangaka is planing for a sequel.

Great manga with a not-so-great ending

I don't mind having a bad end, but I hate having so many plotholes and unexplained things left. Unfortunately, this is the kind this manga has. Now I only hope the author will make a sequel of it, like, for example, Immortal Regis' bad ending continued in Cavalier of the Abyss.

Like everyone else said, the story itself is pretty cool.

The art is different from the typical shounen manga and is pretty unique but needs some polishing. There are times when I can't differentiate one character from another because the drawing was so inconsistent. Thought the characters are given some development, they aren't too deeply explored. Throughout the manga, some interesting conflicts occur which can create some though provoking questions, but as it doesn't explore too deeply into the issues, the conflicts feel surface level. The ending to this was disappointing, but there is a sequel fortunately. If you're someone who reads manga depending no the ending, this is not recommended. Endings can make or break a story, and this one was unfortunately inconclusively rapped up in ONE chapter. There was great potential in this manga though, and it is generally recommended.

WTF. It actually ended. So here I am thinking ooh they updated ch. 143! Ch. 144 would probably be up later. Next thing I know....IT ENDED. When my friend dropped the bomb on me today that there are only 14 Volumes, I totally turned into the state Tsukiyama was in chapt. 143. I'm disappointed with the ending. Enough said.

Worst ending I've ever seen

No exaggeration, of all the manga I've had any investment in, possibly of all the manga I've read period, this has the worst ending I've ever seen.
Warning: Major Spoilers

First, lets talk about the clowns, they orchestrated the whole Rize-getting-crushed organs-getting-transplanted thing, and their motivation was just to make things interesting?!?! They were bored??? And what about Rize for that matter? Is she just going to be kept in a storage container on the verge of starvation for the rest of her life? And the whole thing with Touka "having faith in him" is straight-up depressing, at least let her know he's dead man (but that's personal preference I guess). It just took a great fight scene and turned it into a bunch of "protagonist X dies because [insert deus ex machina here]." Good thing there was a new prototype of that armor huh? And that a scientist, who showed no indication of battle experience, just drove into a combat zone to deliver it right in the final moments eh? And as long as we're asking, how did the strongest members of Aogiri penetrate the CCG's perimeter huh? Who knows? Certainly not the readers. For anyone who, like me, was unfortunate enough to get hooked on this work, I'd stop reading at chapter 120, maybe 121 if you're brave and just pretend the mangaka had a brain aneurysm or something and couldn't complete the work. Seriously, from like a 10 to a 7 :<

The whole manga's so great that I can't even imagine it having this kind of ending. Even if there would be a second season or a spin-off and all, It just felt too axed.It's like the writer's trying so hard just to finish this season. And just WHAT THE HELL's with those turn of events? Disappointing. Too disappointing.
