And it's not even done well.
Yaoi/BL is full of illogical misunderstandings but this one was...actually impressive at how little thought was put into it. Respect.
I mean, dearest Seme, what did you expect your Uke to think when some random girl
shows up unannounced and you order your Uke to tidy up your bedroom and clean your bed after you've fucked him through the mattress all night long. To add insult to injury YOU then take her into YOUR bedroom that you just shared with your Uke.
And closed the door.
Why did you have to be in a private room? The only other people in the house is his lover, the Uke, and the other is the girl's real lover, Seme's bootlicker.
Oh, let's not forget that the Seme also warned Uke that women comes in and out of his house regularly very early on in the story.
How the fuck was the Uke supposed to know this rando woman is your sister? She didn't seem to exist until the above mentioned chapters.
Besides, are you seriously telling me a hotshot gangster like you
don't have an office or another room with a door that closes in the house for you to talk to your sister in? What the fuck.
This bitch then comes flying back out of the bedroom, so enraged that her hair did the Ghibli thing of spiking up all over the place and grabbed the Uke by the collar, SCREAMING these exact (translated) words into his face, "You're a homosexual?! Just because you're living together...doesn't mean you can touch someone else's man!"
(Yes. That's right. I said what I said. This homophobic bitch doesn't deserve the respect of being treated like she's a fellow, if fictional, human being.)
Her real man is actually the Seme's...assistant? Co-gangster? Whatever he is this fucking bootlicker is equally responsible because he, immediately after the Seme drags the bitch sister away, says in the most smarmy way, "jeez, sorry about that. But still, try not to fall for him (the Seme), okay?"
If this is the true translation then he did this on purpose. Sowing discord. This bootlicker could have easily resolved the misunderstanding by changing exactly one word; "him" to "me".
If it wasn't on purpose then he should have said, "But still, try not to fall for me, okay?"
Unless he has a bad habit of referring to himself in the third person...and even if he did, why did it not show up in conversations before this?
The seme had the audacity to be confused and angry, blaming Uke as he's
full-on raping the poor guy. Repeatedly. Not even a smidgen of non-con or dub-con, oh, no. After the Uke rightfully rejected his advances believing he has a girlfriend.
Seme must have exactly one, very damaged brain cell bouncing around in there if he couldn't connect the dots and
understand why the Uke was in tears and just trying to get away.
The reveal is in chapter 19 and came completely out of left field.
It was done in such a way that it very much reads like it expects the readers to not only feel relief and further bonding with the story, but we ought to be ashamed for assuming Seme is a two-timing scumbag.
In English there's a saying, "to assume something makes an ASS out of U and ME."
The reveal just falls very flat.
The set-up did not exist. The payoff...did NOT happen. There's no "show", only "tell", and baaaaarely at that.
