Description
Alice Seno seems like a normal girl in high school. She's a bit shy, she's got a crush on a boy named Kyou, and she's got an older sister who is more popular than she is... pretty normal stuff, until Alice has an encounter with a mysterious and magical rabbit girl that changes the course of her life, and Alice is introduced to the sublime power of the Lotis Words.

is it mid? absolutely. But as the huge fan I am of the trashy melodrama that is fushigi yuugi, let's just say this scratches the itch. Super short, goes nowhere, but the dokis were doki-ed, and that's something I guess. You can easily do a lot worse.

So I read this years ago when manga wasn't popular and the only place to get it was a tiny corner in my local library.
While I can't remember a whole lot about this manga, I do remember I enjoyed it. It wasn't a bad read for me and I read it straight to the end. It was like reading the abbreviated Yui and Miaka jealousy relationship. It is a short story about the power of words and it wasn't half bad.
While it isn't a MUST read for me, if you are looking to kill some time with a short read, I would recommend this.

Not only does this girl looks like Sakura from Card Captor Sakura a bit TOO much, she also is absolutely unremarkable. Sakura was cute and filled with personality, this girl... this girl is just "there." I would've payed more attention had this main character got tossed off a cliff and bashed her head against the rock and then got abducted by aliens.
The author did not delve into the psyche of this girl, and this girl was completely boring as a character. Plot-wise, it was jagged and shallow. The fantasy elements of the story were dumb and out of place, and the entire series just seemed like it was written by an amateur. The story sucked. There is absolutely nothing noteworthy, and yet the series has so many chapters! Boring and long! The worst combinations!

Sometimes Yu Watase tries to tell a story between various men sexually harassing her main charcaters, and some times she does not. This is certainly a case of the later. Her art is still strong and her pannel layouts are good, hence why I'm giving it a '5' and not a '2', but she draws her characters so similar anyway, just pick any other Yu Watase manga to read if all you want is this art style.
The plot lacks any kind of twist or depth and the main character might as well be a cardboard cutout of a girl. I think people are often too critical of shojo heroines, but in this case it's true. She's not attractive, has no real skills or hobbies, and just pines over her sister's boyfriend... Sigh...

This was dreadful, I had to push myself to finish it. Quite punishing. The fighting style (using words) not only doesn't "translate" well into this medium (may work better in anime) but even worse, it was full of plot-holes and unexplained elements. You are supposed to suspend your disbelief beyond comparison, even for a Majou story. To add insult to injury, the dialogues were horrible and utterly cheesy. There was no character growth. Everything was superficial. And last but most certainly not least, I hate that the mangaka consistently creates storylines that pervert female relationships and reduce them to jealousy over a guy. And the cherry on top: She even

It's your very typical manga. It's very cute and is not bad if you like to read about romance and don't mind the fantasy and how it's like other mangas. I had a good time reading it I think but it didn't leave a big impression on me seeing how I completely forgotten what this manga is about but since I finished it i assume it wasn't a completely horrible manga
Just your average fantasy/romance shoujo

My title pretty much says it already. I agree with LUEser & despelucada here. It's pretty much your average fantasy shoujo with A LOT of sappy boring romance and bishounen. It got sometimes pretty confusing as well, switching to this scéne and then suddenly to another. Very weird, at some points I couldn't even follow anymore what was going on.
The first volume was fine and pretty enjoyable, it really seemed like it would be a good shoujo. Okay, there were some cheesy contents here and there, but this wasn't really bothersome actually. It all started around the half of the second volume - third volume that it started to be really, really annoying. All that hassle about sisters loving one person... it seemed more that it was about the romance rather than the fantasy - the lotus world and such, which I loved by the way. It could be such an interesting shoujo if it was more about the fantasy instead of the sappy, annoying romance. The author seriously screwed it up at this point. Sad, very sad...
I don't recommend this to people who wanted to read this because of the fantasy, because trust me, the fantasy is more at the background. However, if you like your shoujo with a lot of sappy romance and pretty bishounen, you'll probably like this, especially if you're around the age of 13.
If you still are curious about it, just read the first volume and don't bother the rest. Seriously, you'll feel like you've wasted your time and be disappointed. I am at least.

I've never actually read any of Watase Yuu's work before, but I've seen Fushigi Yuugi in its anime form so I kinda had an idea of what I might expect from the characters and story. It turned out that I really liked it. The main character Alice wasn't a really powerful, independent girl, but she wasn't helpless either. Unlike Miaka, she could be counted on to take care of herself. The story was really creative too with the idea that words can be just as harmful as actions. Yes, the romance can be a little over the top and slightly cheesy sometimes, but its definitely something looking into.

While I've seen anime since I was little (not that I knew it as such, it was just cartoons to me), my first exposure to manga came through one of my close friends in high school. I've yet to figure out if it was fortunate or unfortunate. Anyway I was exposed to a ton of shojo that I would never come close to picking up on my own. This is one of those series. The fact that I finished it says a lot for it. Definately written for girls and hopeless case romantics like my friend. Just pick it up and see you'll like it or you'll hate it.

I could easily write that it's classic Watase Yuu, and people who know what that means wouldn't have to read any further... but I'll elaborate.
Our heroine this time is Alice Seno. She's a bit more innocent and pure-hearted than some of Watase's previous heroine, but not as annoying as Fushigi Yuugi's Miaka. It has the traditional love interest that Alice is too shy to confess to, and a female rival (her sister) that Alice can't help but feel inferior too. Pretty basic.
But what made this series stand out to me would have to be both the interesting side characters and the system of magic. Often times fantasy series will fall into the traditional war of good vs evil, but not so common is the war of good words vs evil words. Also many of the later side characters are interesting and serve as a good shake up to what's been happening in the main story.
As always the art is very beautiful. If you're a fan of Watase Yuu, you'll definitely want to check this one out.
