It’s almost hilarious that this whole story is centred around one event that lasted 17 years. The mystery and suspense was pretty well done, and the art and panelling reminds me of Cheese in the Trap so I absolutely loved the nostalgia. I have minor grievances about certain things, but ultimately the rushed ending ruined this webtoon.
This story could’ve been so good because it started off really interesting, but the ending was not satisfying — not just because of how extremely rushed it was, but also Jiho Nam’s fate remained unresolved and what DID get resolved was so cheaply and quickly done.
Here were some things I had issues with 🙄:
My biggest gripe was when they were all in shaman granny’s home, and Jigyo was unconscious with Segye Lee possessing him while Jiho and Gamsa were arguing on the side. Granny you were really just praying and making talismans while this whole ruckus was going on???
Plus Jiho’s character is so problematic because he never got developed fully (not even til the end!), so we readers never get a chance to understand or sympathize with him — he is pretty much assaulting the two leads at this point so we hate him, but at the end of this scene he just… disappears peacefully? LOL this all didn’t make sense and the situation doesn’t get wrapped up properly. Just leaves a bad taste overall for this scene.
Honestly I was hoping for a character redemption arc for Jiho Nam, but I knew there was no coming back for him when it became obvious he was Segye Lee’s murderer. It’s a shame cuz I’d like to know why he was so obsessed with Gamsa. Did he genuinely like her? Oh well, we’ll never know. 😌
Sujin Kim the cop was the most random and unnecessary character. It didn’t seem like she did anything for the story... Same with the bullying cigarette kids arc, that felt pretty random too.
The story starts off with a bang, is interesting enough to hook you in, and thankfully is a short enough read. But don’t expect it to end as good as it started — in fact you should not have any expectations for this at all. You’ll feel better that way after you finish the story.
