Description

Freesia is set in an alternative Japanese society that is at war, and has passed a law legalizing retaliatory killings. If somebody kills your loved one, you are legally sanctioned to kill, or hire someone to kill, the perpetrator. The manga is set around a character who works for a firm that specializes in these retaliatory killings.

I hope someone picks this up and translates last two chapters.

It's shame this great series is left uncompleted for english readers.

I found in Freesia deep insight into malfunctions of human psyche and how people are struggling to fit the society, despite their mental condition. Jiro portrayed schizophrenic mind perfectly.

Very interesting, it's like watching someone else's bad dream, basically the whole manga is one never-ending nightmare.

Plot/Story:- It's about criminals who've been let out early because of overcrowding, so the government allowed a new "Vengeance Law" allowing people to hire Enforcers to kill ex-cons who have affected you or your family.

Artwork:- The artwork was pretty terrible to begin with , because the author is known for drawing everything all sketchy but it improves later on.

Final Thoughts:- The plot is pretty interesting however the story does become very inconsistent, at times, where it adds in some random stuff like a war. The characters are all pretty insane in some way, especially the main one (Kano)who's always talking to himself but at least one or 2 characters are developed well in the end. Well it started of pretty crappy but now that it's improved I wanna read the next volume.

Just finished re-reading it a second time.
I can honestly say that I did not notice nudity or gore... or more like, it was there I guess, but ... after Berserk pretty much any amount of nudity and gore seems average.

I liked Kano. Paradoxically, he seemed to be the most sane character in the manga (especially out of the main cast). He kept searching for himself and for the reason people do things.

It was also funny how people reacted to Kano.

I have respect for the coffee-house waitress.

first of, i think this manga is bloody amazing. the last volume just make my heart jump so much i cant breath. however, i only get this from the 'atmosphere' it emit. if you are the type that do not like unexplained happening or deus ex machina in their manga, don't read this. kano is just....god. no other way about it. i mean, his delusions and apathy are entertaining but you might throw your tankobon out with the last two chapter.
however, regardless of the last two chapters, the others previously are very good and interesting. trying to dechiper kano's delusions are fun, and the other's psychotic breakdown is also entertaining. the odd philosophical bits here and there is also good i guess.
kano i think is a good main character. not evil nor good, just soulless being that try to find his way in the chaotic world. all the other characters are good too, i especially like yamada and his (spoiler) degeneration from an upstanding citizen to a backstabbing rat (end spoiler)
the universe this is set on is also interesting. because such universe is very compatible with the premise of vengeance killing that set the motion of the story. also, it is fully used toward the end of the chapter because (spoiler) of the bombing kano lost his prey, that woman die and everything come tumbling down (end spoiler).
all in all, i recommended this to anyone that's okay with non moralistic story.

Typical Ending But...

It is a good read. The main character gets himself out of the situation where it seems like the end for him and escapes. Later his injuries are healed but as I read, more holes are filled in while creating a bigger hole, his past and this camouflage technique. It satisfied my mind as I'm reading the chapters but sometimes the scenes jump quickly leaving no conclusion or rest to my thoughts until much later, where everything comes to a whole but may be questionable between readers.

I really feel that this manga is one of the best reads that i have ever come across, pure sienen for adults. Jiro did a excellent portrayal of what the dregs of human society can be like with pure insanity taking place within different characters especially the main character himself. The art is great, really fits the manga very well and the ending will catch you off guard.

I can see why people have problems with this manga, Jiro never pulls any punches when it comes to his work but that what makes him one of the best. But in any case i guess only real sienen lovers would see that.

Don't read this if you're easily offended by nudity, gore, crackpot shit happening all the time and crude artwork.

If you're open to all that, this is some of the best stuff you can read.
