Description

Ed, a broke bodyguard in search of some fast cash, enters the world of porn by applying to the adult film company McQueen Entertainment under the alias 'Tommy.' He originally planned to just perform as a top. I think the biggest reason I enjoyed this was the complexity of the characters. Not to throw shade, but most manhwa don't have complex characters because they're difficult to write well and most manhwa are created by inexperienced storytellers.

These characters had real depth, complexity in their motivations, and a realistic range of emotions. Even some of the side characters had character arcs and good growth. It was incredibly interesting and engaging to read.

I especially loved Chang. His character arc was so good, and his motivations and emotions felt so real and raw. Him consciously doing bad things while also trying to do good things put my heart in a weird place. I pitied him and thought he got what he deserved, but at the same time I was really rooting for him. I wish we could get more of his story. I want to watch him become a better person and find happiness.

Bizarre Story

I was interested in Ed's story but so much of is weird and fragmented that we keep wondering who and what did he do before his current situation? The debt was just a dumb gimmick that didn't do anything to plot other than add loldrama. Is there a love triangle? What? I have no idea it's been like 50+ ch and IDK why Chang liked him at all.

I feel like the major resolution happened off-screen and I'm wondering why the endgame relationship existed in the first place. There's definite moments where the scenes are rushed esp the one hotel scene and months seem to pass w/o any input so it's just confusing.

Art is nice though

Okay I really like the art style and the cliche plot was fine.

Ed has this innocent almost princess like personality, he is strong and can fight, but in terms of romantic feld, he is a lost case. I can't. (Only his background can touch your heart).
He fall deeply in love with an actor and gay porn producer McQueen, they start dating. What I didn't like was that McQueen said to Ed "Even though this can hurt you. I wont stop doing it"

he was refering to acting in porn. He gives a damn about Ed's feelings. Oh but he was concerned about Ed doing too and also he was jealous about Chang. How cynical. But he do it with others because is a job, huh? unbelievable
That's what I hate the most. Ugh.
I can't deal with semes like that and ukes who are starving for being loved. I'm out.

More depth than I thought

Day Dreamer was on point with their review even though they only read one chapter lol.

I wasn't expecting more than smutty smut smut when I read the summary, but this story challenges your perception of the porn industry and allows you to understand how easy it is to fall into and keep continuing to do porn. But don’t worry if you’re here for the smut cuz you’re in for a treat. The bodies of the guys are manly af, and the main characters have abs for days. Recommended for the abs alone.

The author also did a pretty good job of portraying the different types of people who do porn and their reasons for doing it. The most recent chapter and one of the side characters really hit me in the feels when he said

that the only thing he wanted was to be reborn. The author also did well in portraying the cityscape of New York City and making it seem believable. I wouldn’t be surprised if the author actually lived in NYC for a while.

I was surprised by the sudden confession, and there are some unsavory characters starting to bare their fangs. But other than that, the romance between the main character and main lead grew rather naturally and somewhat innocently actually as they bonded over their love of movies (albeit smuttily lmao). And ah, that’s what the story feels like. It feels like I’m watching a movie and each chapter feels like a scene in that movie.

Overall, this managed to move me and keep me engaged. That’s a win in my books.

Potential for More Depth?

I’ve read quite a few yaoi mangas and I’m not usually intrigued by smutty yaoi, but for some reason I picked this one up. Currently only the first chapter is translated — but nothing much actually happens in it.

I think where this manga might get interesting is how the future story pans out. If there’s somewhat of a slow burn romance with a dash of sexual tension as the raws seem to suggest, I think this could be a story with more depth than the synopsis implies.

I really hope that’s where the story is going. I really hope we get character development and romantic tension because then my excitement for the potential of this manga wouldn’t have been in vain. (And I won’t have to come here to edit this comment.)
