Both stories are confusing, but they’re not bad. The first seems a bit interesting but pretty out of edgy. The second story is above confusing and complicated. I still have no idea what the real pilot twist is.

Maybe cuz I'm dumb or something but I couldn't even get what the plot was all about, all I can see is many different Jiu and Tokiwo. I'm so confused that I didn't even want to try connecting the dots with all the info provided. It's too much for a tiny brain like mine.

...and I still prefer Sex Pistol, no less.

First story really grabbed me, I was fully prepared to be invested. Then it just ended.
Feels a bit like a what-if as much as a oneshot.
Second story just didn't grab me, might have to o reread it again just to seen if it can grab me at all.

The story is great when you already have some understanding about science. So to a Discovery-geek like me, I didn't have hard time trying to understand it, a bit... But all in all, despite the confusion in the second story, I'd totally recommend this.

cos it made my head hurt. im not good in thinking. so the second story does not appeal to me much, but the gist is waiting and longing for your destined one am i right?
the first story is the best. i will not think how the angels reproduced, but the moral question put forth is intriguing.

This is one of the few mangas that I've bothered going back and re-reading (though just the first story. The second story is a bit too plot-thick and un-amazing). It makes you question right n wrong, and the characters are likable. Also, I usually dislike angel-centric stories, but this one doesn't bother me. Some may end up finding it too angsty or ridiculous, but give it a shot at least!
I selfishly want a sequel, though it's probably best left as this oneshot. :/

the first story was better for me. it had an original interesting and somewhat convenient ending but still it worked
the second story however was a little bit more complicated but still you gotta appreciate the mangaka's tenacity in creating a story that involves parallel universe and time , truthfully it blew my mind.
they both involved philosophy to some extent and aside for the shonen-ai elements which i really appreciate it was also rather intellectual. the only thing i would have liked changed was a better drawings but hey i still gave it a ten, that just how good it is

I either love or hate this mangaka's work. Her stories are always unconventional and inventive -- never what one would expect, but always unique and intriguing. Her work can be out-of-this-world-amazing, strangely addictive, just plain weird, and gross. Concrete Garden is all of those. She gives us just enough to get hooked on the story -- visually and through subtle conversation -- then she leaves the rest up to our over-active imaginations. However, some people may not like being forced to figure out the hidden meanings -- even if we have, do we really understand it the way the mangaka meant it? ...(ugh) too complicated.
Fantastic ideas, but very confusing

The art in this manga is beautiful and evocative, and the plots of these two stories were fascinating and inventive. However, I found both stories to be very confusing at crucial times. There are sections where the narrative explains the sci-fi parts of the plot, but the explanations are confusing which might be partly a translation issue. The first story wasn't as difficult as the second. I've read about the multi-verse and many worlds theories, but I found the explanation of what happened to the various characters to be overlong and not very enlightening. Sometimes I couldn't figure out who the characters were when they had counterparts in the other world. I'm still not sure if there were 2 or 3 sets of Tokiwos and Jius. I'll probably try to read it again and see if I get more out of it a second time.

I love this mangakas work it's just always great and am quite fond of the art. The story is a bit complicated in both sides but still worth a read, always leaving you wondering.....if things were really like that what would the world be like? My favorite was the first angel story so cool and i really loved that twist int he ending.
