I was expecting very little when I picked this up, but found myself pleasantly surprised. It certainly doesn't bring anything new to the table, although the main character isn't your usual monster hunter toting guns. What makes Ookami ga Kuru a good read is the nice mix of comedy, action, and a sprinkle of romance. Just the right combination.
The characters are likeable, although not particularly developed at this stage. I'd definitely like a few chapters that delve more into Sirius' past, how he became a hunter, and so on. More about Beate's background would be interesting as well, or the way KICHE works. So far we've only seen them tackling cases.
The art is generally very nice, although there's a pretty big variation between some panels. Most are very clean, sharp art, but every so often, particularly during the action scenes, it looks pretty sketchy. Easily ignored, however.
As the previous commenter stated, there's a lot of potential here. It won't be the best thing since sliced bread, but it'll be a fun read. Now if only there's more out...
