I've seen many people confused about the ending and all I can say is IT DIDN'T END. It was more like it was dropped because the authors had an argument...
Anyway, as a classic it is, I loved every episode of this 🙂)

Beautiful.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
*aplausos*

A classic indeed :(

Ok. I didn't enjoy the ending.... at all.
While reading this, I got a taste of what classic comic strips were like: the epitome of melodrama, tragic characters, and stereotypical villains.

But considering how old this manga is, I was able to give it some leeway and enjoy it despite the various unpleasant elements for a more contemporary reader...

Okay I rated it an 8.7 only because I don't really like tragedies, and the ending was slightly annoying at one part, but it was OK. Not bad.. but like for some it could of been better. I personally thought if the author made me root for the guy more I would of felt.. better I guess (I do approve though). This is definitely a manga you should look into even if the art is old.. this is a classic and beautifully well written. The beginning was a bit of a turn off for me since I hated the bullying. So the part where Eliza and her family were being cruel to her was like errr... but the other characters in the story were lovely. I really like Candy and her optimistic personality. This manga was indeed very heart warming and sweet..I should of read it earlier than being kept on my wish list.

1 of the best shoujo

I read this when I was just 8 years old and I still love Candy Candy so much <3. It's really rare to see such a lovable female lead in shoujo. The boys who like her are also very adorable. I don't hate any of them. Though I'm not a supporter of Terrance x Candy, I still find their relationship beautiful and bittersweet. Other characters' stories are also touching and sad. Candy Candy sure leaves a deep impact on me.

I highly recommend this manga.

I was 13 when I watched the anime. It has marked my life forever.
I am now 30 and I've just read the manga for the first time. I never thought shoujo could be so full of meaning.
I only regret not reading this long ago. Words can' describe how great this is. Must read, even if you dislike shoujo.
I disagree with those who didn't like the ending - it was an open one, maybe not the perfect one, but isn't this how life is in the end?

This is my first manga I read and I absolutely loooovee it!
Candy is a strong main protagonist. there are a lot of unfortunate event in her life but she keep her head up. I didnt find her annoying as a main girl character in shoujo manga. The storyline so captivating, there are quite cliche plot but thats ok. This is a masterpiece of shoujo manga ever!
I cried a lot while read this manga and a bit disapponted of the ending coz
Spoiler (highlight to view)
she end up with no one... Anthony died and Terry become actor. but at least she found out who her foster father actually :D

I bet you will fall in love with this manga so dont miss it >.<!!

you gotta to love this book. the book is much better than movie. this comic is part of my childhood. this manga has a very good story line. It telling a story of a little girl grow up, learn to be strong and experience every aspect of life. It also show good quality that reflect in reality. I don't like the sad ending of it, i almost cry every time i read the last 3 books of this series.

One of the classic and best shoujo titles out there! You who call yourself a shoujo addict (not me ^^) and this one is a must-read!

I can't stand most shoujos nowadays with the silly exaggerating situations and chars and so-so. Candy Candy, though old, remains as one great title.
