Intended to be deep but wasn't quite

I finished it because it was so highly rated, but it did not move me. Other readers gushed about how sad it was or how it was the best BL they'd read. I expected a tragedy or at least something incredibly moving, but it fell flat for me. When I read commenters saying they broke down crying, I wondered if we were reading the same work.

As for the romance, it felt really forced. The ML's realization of his feelings for the MC felt abrupt. Usually, while the ML himself may be blind to his feelings, the readers can see those feelings developing. That just wasn't the case here.

The most gratifying aspect of this manhwa was its life-affirming message. But even that could have been better presented. The most touching part was probably the MC's relationship with his old friends. It's a pity we did not see more devoted to the preciousness of those relationships. We were told they mattered, but we didn't see those relationships develop deeply.

All in all, everything felt a little shallow. Others may have loved the artwork but it was meh in my book. See The Ghost's Nocturne, In the House of the Damned, or Sunnyside Daycare Classmates for my idea of great artwork. Three very different styles but each one the pinnacle of its style.

I'm glad I finished this manhwa if only to be able to say I read it and didn't love it. Fortunately, it was a fast read.

I really liked the art and action scenes. I think they were done pretty good.

Characters were great, even those you were supposed to hate - they were perfectly depicted as insufferable egotistical people. ML was exactly my cup of tea, I'm satisfied with the way he was played with in the end. Yiseon was sweet and I wish him the best. Team members were kind and understanding of his condition. I'm glad he met such good people in his life.

I can't say it was a masterpiece, since as someone already here said - everyone emphasized Yiseon's unstable state, but did nothing for a whole year he was working with them! Also, why no other guild decided to take a restorer with them when they were allowed to access dungeons from the seven-level raid? It was visible to the naked eye that restorer's presence is essential and there were even videos of chord completing their dungeons with Yiseon! I know he's the best and has the highest rank possible, but it's still better to have at least b rank restorer than none at all. It was also many times said that those other guilds are qualified too, but every time they were shown to us, we saw how badly they failed in their dungeons. I don't think someone with countless failures can be called a second or third best guild in the whole country.

It was one of the earliest adventure-dungeon-type boys love to get adapted and it still remains one of the most highly recommended, it's indeed really good.

everything was well written, starting with the main characters: the MC, who hides in the shadows, burdened by guilt and self-blame; and the ML, who initially tries to exploit that weakness to manipulate him into joining his team—unaware that the one he seeks to control would become his own weakness (being described as fox-and-wolf fits him perfectly)

the dungeon raid concept was based on the "12 Wonders" which made the raid interesting! I was thrilled reading it at first it was full of tension. though I cannot deny that it does lack the kind of excitement and conflict involving the other characters, which could've added more depth, it still makes for a somewhat lighter read, even so, it hits all the right emotional notes.

pacing is spot on with a coherent storyline. romance is non-explicit, yet their love still feels deeply genuine (I want to read the novel so badly) beware of angst !

I ain’t gon lie, this story and most of the fight scenes were only mid. Wanted more time with the side characters, lightning grandma too, but they weren’t super important which was a disappointment. I do however really like the twisted but genuine nature of love between the two main characters. It wasn’t a simple love at first sight, and their relationship takes a few surprise turns. It was cliched, but done in a slightly refreshing way which I appreciate.

The scene near the end with the tower was really great. That was a well-written and drawn scene. The tension, despair, and hope was chef’s kiss. I could feel their emotions very palpably :( Badass cold ml turned blubbering mess except in a good way.

Love the story, now I wanna go to the novel for the spicy scenes - they teased us too much about it T.T

One part of the final chapter I really liked was how they ended the chapter, which felt poetic and echoed back to the title.

Yiseon and Hyeon strolled hand in hand, gazing at the serene blue sky. As Yiseon stepped forwaed, his shadow gre longer behind him. It was a day when the traces of the sun reached far and wide

Somehow, it felt as though our mc has finally stepped back into the sunlight that had been devoid in his life for so long, and allowing himself to feel it.

It's a letdown because people keep bringing up the MC's instability but not about treating it (until the end)! Everything is a little shallow in that way.

i enjoyed the storyline even though at times the ml kinda irk me. i really liked how the ending wrapped the story up nicely! the story doesnt really focus alot on the romance and is more action based, so if ur into that i think this would be a good manwha to start with 🙂
