Description

First of all, this isnt usually the type of manga I'd go for. No, its not about the exhorbitant amounts of TnA, or the sex. I'm not sure why it remained outside my peripheral vision to be honest, however I came across it quite on accident.

But what a ride. Binge read it in a day, and I'm so glad I did. I'm sitting here after the finale chapter wishing for a 2nd part, a continuation... to see where the main characters go from here.

This is certainly a must read, and if your not into smut, the story does go deep, there is ALOT of character development not seen in other places of its ilk.

Trust me, just read it.

The story of guy being screwed with, and the girl who needs to get her head on straight.

How I felt when I read this

When this series first came out, I read the first eight chapters and stopped. Why? Well, one because only eight chapters were out at that time, so I read the most I could. But another reason was because I knew that this manga had SO MUCH potential and that it would KILL me if I had to wait until another chapter came out. So I waited it out.... until today. I read all 32 chapters in one go, and I say the wait was worth it.

I would elaborate on why it was worth it, but everybody else here has already spoken for me. This is a great manga series which delves deeper into the meaning of friendship, love, and a sense of duty.

There are lots of twists and turns in this manga, and there are also some rage moments too. That's the beauty of this; it made me FEEL. I sympathized with both the protagonist and the heroine, wanting what was best for them. Whether they got a happy ending or not is for you to read.

To those that are contemplating on whether this manga would truly live up to the hype it receives, I highly recommend reading this and judging for yourselves if it was well worth it. I hope that Harumi Chihiro - sensei becomes more well known, and start writing/drawing more wonderful manga series.

Yes, it does have a lot of sex scenes and probably some could be avoided, but I really like the main characters, they're not the usual useless male and soft female lead. Both of them have a unique character and the story is keeping me interested so far. Also hope for some development from now on but anyways a good read.

I don't believe a reader should have to "get through" almost one third of the entire story before it starts to be an interesting story. That's what editors are for. Chop it for chrissakes. I don't care how amazing the story becomes, eight chapters of disjointed scenes and gratuitous sex with characters I don't care about wastes my reading time.

So far "Velvet Kiss" has been interesting. The relationship between the two main leads - typical salary-man gets together with an atypical tsundere girl - is really intriguing. My only complaint is that there is too many sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, they spice up the manga as they are all beautifully drawn but some chapters could very well do without them. In my opinion, more focus on developing the story would clearly benefit the manga. However, seeing as "Velvet Kiss" is serialized in an adult magazine, one would guess that there won't be any changes soon in that department.

As AMetroid points out and as should be expected from Harumi Chihiro, the manga spends a lot of time on sex scenes, that, although inexplicit, don't leave overly much to the imagination. Spending more time on the story would be welcome. Nevertheless the story comes through reasonably well, more than well enough for a light entertainment.

The art is well drawn: not only neat and easy to follow but also just generally pleasant to admire. I also agree with Darknemo, the characters are well made, the salary man hero as well as our not-so-typical tsundere heroine.

Further to that, the plot (as far as the 9th chapter) is intriguing and has a mix of slice-of-life, slowly developing romance between the hero and heroine, hints at their pasts and a bit of foreshadowing for suspense. The exploration of love, friendship, sex and money is far from brilliantly unique so dont expect this to manga to change your world philosophy but it is very well executed and has its touching moments.

All in all, a very good read. Recommended.

I think it is suppose to go like more Kanoko spends time with Nitta more she shuns away her orgy life eventually leading to her living normally and falling in love with Nitta. Nitta on the other hand is facing the harsh realities of life including his so called girlfriend using him just for her sexual pleasure.

I came across and thought it was going to be a pointless manga with just a lot of sex in it but I was wrong. It may have a lot of sex but there is a story going on in this manga which is what I love about it. Once reading it you just want more and more.

Pretty good for a borderline H Manga

The manga is like in the deep end of being a hentai. Most manga's like these aren't really my type but it was pretty good. The art is good and it actually has a plot. The character development with the two protagonists is pretty good but I didn't really like that every single chapters has someone having sex. I thought that it wasn't really necessary but it's an adult manga so I let it slide.

The downside to this manga is that the plot doesn't seem fluid to me. When I say "fluid" I mean that the story has some chapters that wasn't necessary at all and there was some things that didn't make sense to me. I don't why the one girl at the beginning never shows up again and why didn't the main character confront her. The ending seem kind of rush and it wasn't the best ending I have read. The author could have thought about it more but at least it had an ending unlike other great manga/manhwa I have read that got cancelled with no ending.

Overall it's a pretty good manga but be warned that every chapter has some sort of sexual activity and nudity.

Get through 'em

The first 6-7 chapters are essentially sex scenes without plot, character growth or emotional engagement. There are also lots of generic hentai phrases like 'I came all over her' and whatever. If you can get through these first chapters though, the story becomes quite interesting. The plot is basic, but the relationship development between the main characters is portrayed really well. I totally disagree with the reviewer who bashed the character development (though I can understand why he would hold this stance if he only read the first volume properly). Kano in particular is a fantastic character once she starts opening up and showing some emotional attachment. Her ascent from apathy and her relationship with truth are two of the most interesting aspects of her personality.

Personally I liked the ending. I wasn't too interested in the sex scenes between the side characters, but I understand the genre issue.
