alluring but confusing

Art is superb and the original premise is seductive but I think the author fails to capitalize on the potential. The plot becomes hard to believe because not much time is spent smoothening the transitions. Prepare to be pounded with "wtf? how is this possible?" but also be prepared to be pulled in. Strange as this manga is, there is a certain will that drives the reader to discover what happens next. That's why i give it a 7 as opposed to 5.

I love Niheis work figuring out his stories is like solving a riddle but with this manga he really overdid it. There is just now way that the plot makes any sense what so ever.
My guess is that he wanted to make a manga with every weird idea he could think of, completely neglecting the coherence of the story and world.

It is a nice read but don't expect too much, especially if you liked BLAME.

I actually laughed when I finished this manga because of how absurd the ending was (and basically everything that lead up to it). The BLAME ending is just cryptic, this one is like "lol wut"? I dunno. Honestly I could describe the whole manga as "lol wut?" but I'll just say read it if you liked blame and want to see a guy on a motorcycle shoot holes in the heads of futuristic bad guys.

almost everything nihei writes revolves around the blame universe, however he always seems to have the same issue with his series. He rushes the endings and you have no idea what's going on. for blame it was the last few chapters for biomega its the entire last two volumes.

Another issue nihei suffers from is starting a series and then not doing anything with it (i.e. blame^2 and blame nse)

but back to the series biomega, its an interesting story with a variety of neat characters. the negative however is that the villains all look so much alike that its hard to tell who the peon is and who the ranking villain is, its not noticeable at first but once you get into volume three you'll know what I'm talking about.

But do not read this expecting it to explain the events that created the world of blame, in fact this story suffers like noise did in that it's hard to really lump this into the blame world since the only things it has in common is either a protagonist facing down the odds or the recurring villain types.

I did enjoy the series overall but its week compared to blame, its hard to follow, and does not really fill its role as a prequel well.

I guess now all we can do is flip a coin and hope nihei continues either blame^2 or NSE...

The art in Biomega is very good (kind of lacking soul, but good). Too bad I can't figure out what's going on half the time. My rating is an average of an 8 for the art, and a 4 for the random, confusing plot developments.

It's still quite early in the series to judge it's overall rating, but from what I've read so far, this is truly great. Art is topnotch, the best I've seenn from any other manga i've read and the story is amazing as well. Can't wait for the next release.

This is a good one.
Blame is also a good one. I just never understood what Blame is about.......

However, Blame is better in that Blame creates a whole new world. Blame is one of best manga, even if i didn't understand what the heck the plot is about.

As awesome and engaging as you'd expect. So, yes, it lacks originality compared to "Blame!", but to some people a -bike-, an -axe- and a -new gun- is absolutely enogh in terms of innovation in a Nihei's work. Anyway, great stuff.

Tsutomu Nihei fans, rejoice! For the genius (if irregular) author has started Biomega again! If you're not a fan before reading Biomega, you sure will be after you have read it!
