A Sci-Fi Legend

Battle Angel Alita, has many things you would get, good character development, strong sci fi worlds, awesome fight scene and an epic storyline. Now only is this my number one manga (including its sequel last order), but it is one of the most well written,we have character that has not too much positive and too much negatives, the author recognises that kind of balance,

Most of the females are strong, but flawed individuals, not being a damsel in distress, the main character never uses seduction, it has a strong feminism, NOT misandry feel to it.

A must recommend series for those who like seinen manga, sci-fi or Berserk

Wonderful!

This page-turning manga pumps me up. The protagonist gets her ass kicked in enough ways to make it realistic (as realistic as a dystopian, revolutionary, anti-totalitarian, cyberpunk manga can be). This story embodies girl-power without the sexism, love without vulgarity and beauty found in the soul of a machine.

great world building, not so great plot pacing

i really love the world building here, where the machines and the flesh mingles. i think a city where the factory rules remind me so much of old mining towns where the mining company basically control the whole city. i can feel the blatant disregard of the sanctity of human life here. it showcased how much humanity had degraded in favour of being machines. the gore is great, i love the various ways humans twisted their body to be a machine, but due to the art style that bordering on cartoony, the blood and the guts will not affect most people. so if you are looking for gore, not much here for you.

the plot i think is pretty good, with so much happening but still everything not jumbled up. however, the pacing is not so great where basically everything of any importance happened in the last few chapters. the motorblade feels like filler when you consider the chapters after that.

still, overall this manga is great and one of those that any scify and seinen lovers must read.

and oh yeah, i really hate her duck face

nothing worthy to say

reading this manga was the most pointless thing I did in my whole life. there were a lot of fights and grotesque scenes and the girl became wiser or something as the manga ended but the problem was, alita had no purpose in life. she kind of wanted to learn about her past (she didn't make a serious effort, though) but other than that, there was no noble idea she was following.
the art was good, there was a basic plot but as a reader, I lost interest of the whole thing after jashugan died.

Very, very good.

This is a good manga to showcase why you don't always want a perfect Mary-Sue for your main character. She's idealistic, often naive, with all the weaknesses that come from being a human who gets hurt when relationships are broken; and this makes her struggles all that more interesting and accessible.

The art is fantastic and original, it has a very cool post-apocalyptic cyber-punk setting, the story-telling and character development is great all round and the fight scenes are also ace. I'm getting me some tankobons of this one for sure.

I'm not giving it a 10 simply because it could be a little bit of a slog at times and the pace was a tad too slow in certain areas, but pfffft, such a small detraction to take from this masterpiece. Awesome.

alot of cool characters died-which helps make a good story, but the ending was really cool. and i don't see a problem with the art, it seems great to me. this doesn't need a sequel. its just that good.

It's a trudge some times

It's not a bad manga, that's to be sure, but it is an acquired taste. The simple fault of the manga is the art, it's very rough and dark even when it's trying to be light and happy. The story has a lot of merit that is sadly lost in plot holes and unrealistically impulsive characters. It's not a manga you can decide you like by reading one chapter, you really need to dive in and read about half a dozen chapters to get a real feel for what's in store.

I read the whole of the series in about a week in my spare time, I found myself wanting to know what would happen next for almost the entire time, but each time and arc was complete and there were no huge cliffhangers remaining, I had absolutely no problem walking away from the series for a few days.

There is however one MAJOR plot hole that annoys me to this very day. Something happens to a main character, something that by the logic and technology of this series should be completely reversable, but they just ignore the character from that point forward and you never see him again. Considering he is probably the second most central character...this is an issue.

6/10
would of been higher if not for the huge plot hole and the art.

Very disgusting drawing

Yeah, the plot is very interesting and quite good, but the drawing is so bad. It's annoying, especially Alita's lips. It made her expression not pretty at all. I don't like when she talks at all. Very disappointing about the art of this series. It destroys so many other good points of the series. I dropped reading immediately after the volume 1. Guess I will choose another better-drawing series!

Very good manga, and there's more to sequel

I really love the drawing, it's more realistic type, and no-kind-of such those long arms long legs beautiful face one. The story is also good, and really love the battle. It has deep plot and storyline.
The main character that is the android alita is drawn very good and expressive, also has character development, not only 'piece of junk'. Must read before continuing to the sequel !

Highly Engaging

I read this quite a while ago, but felt the urge to add a comment.

This manga features a main character whose past is a mystery and with an amount of power that is staggering. It leads you on an epic journey with interesting characters. The art is clear cut with a decent eye on detail.

The only real downside is that the author didn't know when to move the focus. Some times to much is spent on one thing and another time a bit to little on another one. Over all it is fine, but the details is what makes and breaks a story.
