Description

Onani means masturbation. And that's what this guy is good at. Every day after school, he sneaks into the mostly unused girls bathroom on the 3rd floor, and masturbates. Until one day, when he's caught by a bullied girl with a hidden agenda.

I decided to read it because I wondered how in the world something that's titled "Onani Master Kurosawa" can have such a high rating. To me, that means either it's hyped up or it must be really good. And wow, it did not disappoint. The story starts off slow and seemed like it might be an ecchi manga. The crude drawings didn't really help either. Basically, volume 1 was a little boring. But, as the main story takes off, you're taken on an emotional roller-coaster.

There are friends and enemies. Actions and consequences. Crime and redemption. Hate and forgiveness. I read through it all before I realized it. The story was masterfully told. Even Kurosawa's perverted thoughts didn't feel perverted, just honest thoughts of a teenager boy who was perhaps a little confused. My only gripe is that I wish it was a little longer for my own enjoyment. But in reality, it was probably just right.

This will be the shortest and easiest comment I'll ever make at Baka-Updates. Since what needs to be said about Onani Master Kurosawa has already been said, me blabbing any further would only be a waste of superlatives. I will, however, say this:

That this is a doujinshi is probably the best thing that ever happened to this story. Being a doujinshi, it is free from the shackles any other manga baring the same genres would normally be constrained to, and does what it wants, not what an editor wants. I laugh at the pretentious, self-applauding clowns who claim they can see how this ends after reading a few chapters. You can't. You were wrong. If you claim otherwise, you're lying. And I will argue that point until nothing makes sense anymore.

If you don't read this, you're a fool. If you do read this and don't like it, you probably didn't understand it's intent, therefore, are also a fool. If you did read this, understood it's intent, and still didn't like it, you're insanely hard to please, emphasis on the word 'insane'.

If I had a friend interested in getting into manga, this would be among the titles I would recommend to her/him.

That 1/2 a point is me wishing I had more to read. Selfish and perhaps a bit ironic, yes. But I feel my little rebellion is somewhat justified.

Weird but beautiful

I read this like 12 years ago. I was cleaning up my library list and bump into this, even now i still fondly remember this manga.

Art style might not be for everybody but i find it unique.

As for the story and characters, i'd rate it pretty high. Its about a bunch of students, their coming of age story, maturing into young adults and coming into terms with reality. The characters feel human and relatable. Handles a lot of real themes like bullying, social withdrawal, unhealthy habits, human relationships, unrequited romance, regrets from making bad decisions but learn to face it, reconciliation and to forgive so we can move on.

I'd say don't be discourage by its weirdness, especially the title. Its a really good manga.
There are some who are dismayed by the pairing(which girl our protagonist ends up with) but i feel like its the most realistic. Eventhough its unexpected. While the ending, i dunno how to describe it, maybe bittersweet(for all the characters)? Basically the pairing and conclusion was neither the best nor the worst, its flawed but thats why its perfect because thats how life is.

It's been a few years since I read this but, it is one of the most outstanding mangas I have had the pleasure to read. The story shows the MC's progress from hateful to opening up to others and really redeeming himself for the sake of being a better person. I honestly do like the girl he ends up with (the omake and extra side novel chapters really are great to read as well) as she kinda brings a foil to him.

One of the series I really wish had more omakes or even a slice of life sequel because I love the characters so much.

I originally read this because of the title. There's been a few ecchi series I picked up just because it made me stop and think "what the hell is this?" and I'd really enjoyed them! The tags were a lot different on this one, but I decided to chance it.

It was alright, but it wasn't really that great. The original premise was interesting, and for me, the real strength was in how the mangaka handled Kurosawa's character development. It was set up well, and it was nice to have a satisfying sense of resolution after everything that went on.

However, the ending felt kind of patched together in a disappointingly poor show of formulaic seinen romance. I also felt like the subject of bullying was handled pretty poorly, since Kitahara pretty much existed to take the fall and make Kurosawa's character more likeable to the reader. Even her depression and other personal issues ended up being used almost exclusively to make him look good, while she remained distressingly "bad" until it was time for Kurosawa to save her from herself.

So, worth the read, but after the main arc powers down, the story just goes stale.

This is one of the greatest mangas ever written. It is for mature readers and has lots of complex and mature themes, so if you are looking for anything like One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, or even Ai Yori Aoshi, you are not going to get it. This pretty much defines a psychological manga. The category tags say it all. This manga literally changed my life.

These are only facade to manga's events.
Why read?

Incredible humour in the beginning - author parodies such mangas like Death Note, Code Geass
Pfff... Fap Note))) You MUST read the first volume at least
Jealousy, revenge, guilt, depression. Repentance, finding one's own way - man, I was MOVED!
I fell in love with girl protag liked - thanks to art - , i felt all the jealousy and guilt protag felt
But the most greatest part is when he repents for all his sins (yeah, I was rooting for him with all my heart), his way acting adultly when everyone started bullying him, support of that afrohair boy - I almost cried when I saw how kind and forgiving people can be..
Man, it was the most wonderful character growth I've ever seen..
I want read more, more something like that!!
What about this manga weaknesses:
mmmm... there are no such stuff here I guess.
A decent mixture of comedy and drama, liked it very much.

It blew my mind

Clearly, the pun was intended but that's what it did for me. The manga makes you think as if you're Kurosawa himself. You see his inner self and his most private thoughts. The art emphasizes this and you end up feeling everything he feels. When he feels dirty, ashamed, angry, proud, happy or even in love. I have never read anything that delves into the mind of a character so well.

This is a story about how he deals with his perverse hobby and the mistakes along the way. Very dramatic and cheerful at the same time. I can honestly refer this manga as the best I have ever read.

Whoever rates this a 1 is a dumbass. The aforementioned dumbass must then be rolled within poison ivy. Then, his fingers should be chopped off. Make him drink his blood. Crucify that dumbass. Cause this is one of the best manga ever.

Art is doujin-like art. As in, tones are used in place of backgrounds a lot, backgrounds are less detailed then normal, and the lines aren't completely definied. Yet just one or two chapters into it, you'll accept it, and then it'll be sort of awesome. Everything about the art is perfect, for when it overdoes things to sort of imitate death note, or when there's an awesome scene happening. Art is just awesome, although at first it won't seem like it.

STORY IS UNBELIEVABLE. I mean, for the first two volumes, it'll be sort of funny and wtf, this is one funny messed up death note parody. Once you look over, though, the death note thing is only used for some comedy, but the story is always there. The main character is the most epic wtf quotient ever, and those situations are so messed up. But the story is already there. Pacing is sorta funny, quirky and perfect, but then falls into that epic dramatic that is so... awesome. Dialogue, psychological, eveything is amazing.

Main character is so light, but then he becomes himself. Kitahara is annoying, but the ending for her is so awesome. Everyone grows, changes, and you'll like even the minor characters. They're drawn pretty good, too.

In the end... if you're mature enough to read past the first volume or two, it'll so damn be worth it. Cricify the damn bitches that voted this 1, I think this might be my favorite mange ever. As a matter of fact, I won't delete this from my hard drive. I'll keep it there, wait three-four months, and read it again, just cause it's that damn awesome.

Wonderful story, albeit revolving around a bizarre theme. I loved all the characters and the ending left a super warm, fuzzy feeling in my heart. I am not going to forget this one any time soon 🙂
