i LOVE skip beat!
reasons why i love it:

the art!! soooooo awesome. Yeah.
the character! all of them, even sho. they're developed well and have misterious side too. Reennn, loveee youuu!!!
the storyline! *gasp. read it. i can say nothing.
no insta-love. there are reasons why u would fall for him or her, not mentioning about their good looking.
many, many, MANY. i can't mention all of it. but this manga is much WORTH to try. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
oh i can't wait for the next chapter!!

Yes, the infrequent releases and the short chapters are frustrating - but otherwise, this manga is just about perfect.

I see a lot of complaints about the most recent arc dragging on, being repetitive, and so on. I can understand that viewpoint, but I really don't agree. Ren has such a traumatic past that he has lived in a false persona for years, refusing to allow his true self any say. Even before taking on the character of 'Ren Tsuruga' he was unhappy and troubled. If the mangaka had been the type that would have resolved all that easily, she would not be anywhere near as good as she is.

The characters are real, and funny, quirky, likable.

The story and plot may seem slow, but I personally think that is partly because the manga is so addictive - when you go back and read the volumes again, what took so long when reading each chapter as it came out (think the dark moon arc) actually doesn't take that long to get through.

The art is fine to me - it improves drastically as the years pass. What the the manga lacks in beautiful art, it gains in characterization.

This is one of the best shoujo romance series out there and was very good in character development and interaction. Until the last story arc. Sadly the slowed down story development plus the switch to a once a monthly (irregular) from bimonthly (irregular) the few years has significantly hurt this series. If it had the same development early on OR had a more often and regular release schedule I am confident it would do fine. As it is, for a monthly series it is both too slow AND too short. It is still very good and I adore it. But I really do not want to wait another 5 years for this series to be concluded if it moves at this pace.

I don't feel its dragged out at all, i mean, the romance definitely has but i like slow romances. Additionally its nothing compared to Glass Mask which is still going. I do have to say though that it is frustrating, its a bit repetitive with Tsuruga getting mad and what not but the latest chapter (193) has really got me hating on Kyoko. HOW COULD SHE SAY THAT?? I DON'T GET IT?? I'm so angry at her i could scream!!!! SCRRRRREEEEEAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

It's a good series though. Read it and you won't be disappointed.

I agree with Qinni 100% Often times I get so frustrated with this series because of all the fillers and the needless drama, but I still love it SOO much. I anxiously wait and get excited over new uploads. But honestly.. I feels its been dragged out far too long. And I really don't want to be disappointed by the ending. I'm praying that it wont be and open ended ending and it will conclude the way I (and probably everyone else) imagines it would.

I love the characters first of all. I think they're all great. Even the hateful Shou-chan haha The concept to me is delightful. And that's why I'm so stuck on this series after all these years! I love the art and the humor is always on-point for me. Even the little twists and turns that are unexpected and somewhat pointless is still really good lol

I do think that people might want to wait for the series to be completely uploaded before reading or else they might wait to drop it out of frustration, but this is really a good read. One of my all time faves.

It started off great, funny comedy, loved the personality of Kyoko; however, considering it's around 10 years old, it really is dragging out a LOT. It's obvious who's going to end up together, if the author is going to do a romantic ending (if it's not open-ended, i mean), and she puts a lot of fillers and long dialogues in between that's kind of ruining it for me....not to mention it's kind of frustrating to see two willful people not admitting their feelings for each other.

Oh well, I think I'm going to put this on hold until it's completely done, then go back and read it. It's pretty good though, but if you don't like long cliff-hangers, avoid this til this is done.

So when I see this manga all the time being highly praised I have to remind myself it's completely subjective and differences are what make people interesting. Personally thought everything about it sucked and anime is incredibly influencing.

It takes a-HELL-lot-of time progressing.

However, somehow (to me) it's not illogical and does not get you bored to the point of dropping the manga.

This manga is the best manga i have ever read in my life. It makes me laugh and squeeck and makes my family think i'm off in my own world because when i read this i cant even hear them taking to me have of the time. I'm just hoping that they come out with the next chapter very soon because i'm getting more and more assurance and the days go by.

I LOVE this manga!! My ALL TIME FAVORITE!!! There is nothing more complex and endearing. I cannot imagine anyone not relating to the lead character. Though recent chapters have been somewhat... boring (yea I am talking about the recent arc - Cain siblings), The only reason I don't like them is because they are too short and they lack a driven plot (kinda like LOST in their later seasons. Damn I swear I would watch an episode for a whole hour and NOTHING would happen!!!). Please excuse my tangent. I still read Skip Beat! because of the psychological journeys that both Kyouko and Ren endure are so riveting. Even though I am slightly bashing my favorite manga, I would like to point out that I have read it three times and still LOVE it!!! I HIGHLY recommend!!! 🙂
