this is going to be an incredibly unpopular opinion, but let me just say that i seriously gave this manga a chance, in fact, i was looking forward to it. shoujo is not really my thing but so many people told me this manga was great, girls.. even guys... but after reading 30+ chapters I fail to see what the hype is about...
the main character is seriously underdeveloped, the author had some good ideas in creating the character, she is definitely not a typical shoujo star but... she still feels so raw and underdeveloped... her way of thinking and behavior is so radical and unrealistic, I can't feel for or identify with her at all, she goes from "humorously" psychotic ranting and raving to calm and reflective monologue every other second, it gets really tiresome to read after a while.
also everyone told me that this manga was seriously funny ... but i haven't laughed or really even cracked a smile through this whole manga. there are some fun ideas in the manga... but it's hardly LOL worthy.... if there is a funny joke, the pacing is either too fast or too slow for the joke to catch properly. honestly, i was pretty bored in a lot of parts.
there are some things that I like about this manga though, i like that this manga doesn't head straight on into the romance. though i think ren and kyoko's interaction is kind of patchy, again, I feel like the author had some ideas but didn't really think them through? nonetheless I like how they are building a slow relationship out of healthy values like friendship and respect instead of some out of the blue romance like a lot of other shoujo mangas. i also like ren's character a lot, i think he's a really great male lead. i think the author pulls off his character really well, he's a unique, funny and reasonable character that makes me want to know more about him. i just wish kyoko was the same... ):
this is obviously an incomplete comment... but this manga really isn't doing it for me, i want to read the rest so i can see the whole picture, but it's becoming more and more difficult for me to keep on reading...
