Description

Gangryong is a high schooler unlike others. He has always had a dream of being the strongest. One day he meets Youcheon, who teaches him a powerful skill. One year later, people come to see him and announce that his "master" is dead. Because he was his only student, Gangryong has to follow them and go to a school where everybody has supernatural powers to fight.

The premise is more about fictional style martial arts with fireballs and whatever actually existed. It's somewhat realistic until you realize that these types of martial arts must have always existed. In which case, people should already have a better understanding of them. Unless Korea in this is special and it's the only one that ever had such arts(which doesn't make sense to me).

Other aspects don't make sense despite it. Like the brutality of it is inexplicable. You'd have all sorts of laws being broken, at a large scale. fact is you can't just say the government is in on it because things don't work that way. The police have a sort of independance, the fbi has a sort of independance from the military if they see a crime going on.

Another critique is that it all happens within this limited boarding school environment. The art is good but the women are kinda all ridiculously big breasted. Another odd thing is that there already seems to be a martial art that's beyond any other in terms of power(with about two others that are almost as strong).

Overall I don't think this is a bad manga, but I don't particularly like it. It is interesting to see a world where people treat these fictional abilities as real, studying them and trying to make the best of it. But it's doesn't match things are and were done with martial arts(or any other skill). Scientist wouldn't need to use these methods to study them. And this would be needless even if its all just research. These things are skills but skills have a varied use, and in militaries, people are taught these uses to fill roles. Like bomb disposal, and inflitration ect. All the fighting the students do would be unnecessary if a skill is useful.

The whole veritas isn't any different than usual, people usually have different reasons in any story. that aside, some of the nonsensical-ness(not all) might be lessen if you view these people as gangsters or maybe assassins(though they aren't. Honestly martial arts have never worked that way overall, while some house styles were passed down, fact is that they were used to wage war. having few people able to do that doesn't defend a nation.

Still, I want to give this manhwa some leeway because it is interesting, and while it doesn't start well told, it definitely matures as it goes along. So the way these people act makes more sense in a gangster sensibility context(of families,groups ect). Though in a school type of setting for research it certainly doesn't. So just think of it like all these gangster-like groups thought it was a good idea to send all their kids to this school(to maybe unite them, or supplant them), but they still have hostilities. Course, doesn't make sense to have them fight unless it's just a bloodsport to let them kill each other. The whole research angle falls apart and didn't make sense in the way it was executed. Though a manga about fictional martial arts being treated with realistic scientific interest sounds... well interesting.

very good manhwa, but the only problem is the hero is pummeled left and right literally by everyone, even though he is supposed to be really strong.

Nice art and action! Just finished browsing all 6 volumes of the raws earlier (which was so hard to find btw.. lol). Can't wait for all of them to get translated. Mann... they all just have such perfect bodies--guys & gals.. makes me wish I'm one of them.. lol

i'm stingy w/ raws... u have to suffer the way i did trying to find them.. lol =P

This manga keeps falling apart. It used to be ok but now its just horrible. The fights are getting ridiculous, the story makes no sense anymore, the character are getting more annoying. The manga isn't worth the time of a decently intelligent human being, maybe a very wise cat, but not a human being.

I put up with this stupid shit because of Lighting Tiger and the Main Character, and bald guy who lost his ki. Vera, Madoka, Shinra, etc. etc. are all extremely boring, ridiculous and stupid characters that are a huge pain to read through. The "beliefs" they so retardedly fight for make no sense whatsoever. They are, for some reason, incredibly devoted to the school president who they have not known for that long and who doesn't seem to give a flying fuck about any of the people who for some reason, are extremely loyal to her.

I could just go on and on about how most of these characters don't make any fucking sense and just keep babbling on about senseless shit but hey, don't really feel like it.

I like Lighting Tiger cause he's cool and funny and simple. Same goes for Main Character, Bald guy who lost his ki. Evem though the Main Character gets beat up a whole lot, I think it'll be worth it once he (hopefully) starts beating those rich snobs senseless or even better, to death.

It seems like the mangaka has a really messed up version of reality in his head/hasn't had much human interaction because holy shit. It makes me mad just reading the stupid shit these characters constantly spout volume in and volume out.

Anyway the fights and skills are (kind of) cool. And even though I usually don't read manga where ecchi seems to have a bigger focus than things like character development, story, etc. I like the ecchi in this one. Lots of big titties :p I've read all currently released chapters so it is entertaining at least.

One last thing, why is this president broad who has never had a real challenge(outside of getting WTFpwned by Lighting Tiger) supposed to be so strong? Guesong's death was utter stupidity and the un-death of Makoda was done solely to NOT piss off fans who might get mad because he killed a female character. Give me a fucking break and grow a backbone.

And please don't even try to say that she probably has a "higher purpose" in the future chapters because so far, this author hasn't really given me the impression that he does a lot of planning ahead.

I will drop this as soon all the current antagonists become good guys too. Which is the way I see this going.

Feels like a "The breaker" spin-off... and till the end it's hard to grasp what the story is going on about, maybe the translation has something to do with it but I can't judge it so I wont.
In any case, neither the main char, the story nor the fights were interesting and the ending felt way too rushed and unfinished, maybe there'll be a sequel someday? not that I'd be interested...

Flat and generic characters, nonlinear plot which makes it confusing (thanks to way too many flashbacks). Adding on top of annoyance is the choke-full amount of monotonous dialogue which might serve as a good source of explanation but definitely not as an integral part of a good manhwa. Graphics was nothing special either, reminding me of Dogs but doesn't come close in terms of impact (largely due to the constant effort to provide unnecessary fanservices).
