Description

A shounen I like

I normally avoid manga made for guys, being a girl, it simply isn't targeted at me and I often find them slightly offensive due to how female characters are almost always portrayed. However, I was bored, had nothing to read and needed to get out of the real world. And Noblesse showed itself to me. I love how it takes the piss, and how unbelievably bad-ass some of the characters are, (it makes me feel like a fan girl.) I love how funnily insane other characters are and that no matter how serious the story is at the time is always manages to slip something in there that makes you grin. It is also exciting and something I cnan re-read. I love how the baddies they meet aren't always all that evil and that although it is predictable, it has so many redeeming qualities that it is still a good read. I wish it was an anime as well, because now I have to wait for the chapters to update and I have to find something else to read.

At first I was like "It has colors, and the format is strange" since it was the first web comic I've read, then just after some chapters I was completely in love with the story. People may say that the characters don't grow, and when I read it I thought maybe the story wasn't good. But unlikely it gave me a very pleasant feeling and I could love each of them knowing they are like this, and the more I learned about them the more I liked.
Even though Rai is pretty much a different protagonist he doesn't lose to any shonen manga protagonist, with time I just fall in love with him. Frankenstein wasn't a problem either since he has the kind of personality I like. All the other characters who came afterwards pass me an incredible nice feeling and make me cheer for them. I like the fights and I read lots of shonem, so the fights are good and even though the fights of Noblesse aren't the usual "find the strength in you", but it doesn’t lose to other stories. The story is surprising, I mean, even though I'm not the type who guess what is going to happen I didn't find any clue of what was going to happen in the end. Noblesse has all the things I could hope for a shonen and more, it's original and addictive. Noblesse is worth reading if it's not a need. I approve completely!

This web comic seriously has one big fault: i can't seem to be enjoying anything else i read. It's like, every action/comedy series that i picked up got compared to this and i ended up dropping them. I'm having such a hard time finding a great series like this. What does it not have? comedy, action, plot, characters development, this series has everything. Seriously, it's such a pain that i can't enjoy anything else 🙁

I need to take a breath...

Noblesse is, to sum it up in one word, 'SOOMFGOODNESSAWESOMEZ'.
Never is there a boring arc, it has the good cliches instead of the bad ones, the characters aren't boring, and my god... THE ART. The art is probably my favorite webtoon art (minus Annarasumanara). At times it reminds me of the kind of stuff you see in western action comics (well only at the beginning, because of

Jake's and M-23's transformations ). But don't let that turn you away, it's actually a mix done right. It's nothing like the failed attempts you see in the graphic novel section of a library (look up the manga version of X-Men to see what I mean). Then it becomes more and more sparkly bishounen/bishoujo stuff. Still very pleasing to look at.

And the characters, I love them. The females are capable of things, the guys have distict personalities, and my god they're all hot (fanservice for all sides). I wish there were more females, but hey... it is a shounen manhwa.
Rai is in a whole dimension of his own. Yes, he does seem perfect on the outside and has godly powers, but his actions have made me laugh so many times. He get pwned by Math, he can't figure out how to use a door, and what the hell... Banana? xD
Plus, it's refreshing to see a lead who's strong and stays strong.

Anyways, to end my ramble about how much I love this series, I must say I reccomend it to anyone who wants a break from the standard 'OMgesh I BE uberstrong power... FRIENDSHIPz... gurls cant fight durr' kind of shounen manga. 🙂

Ordinary in a fantastic way

This is pretty much your average shounen series bundled with an overly dreamy bishounen cast usually found in a shoujo setting, which is a very good formula to cough appeal to readers of both genders . The fights themselves are pretty much what you expect, we have power levels (I think the main character himself refers to some kind of 'eye-level'), constant one-upping, scrapping the power limiter, more hidden powers, and then power levels a few more times, and then the overpowered final boss steals the spotlight, every single time.

But of course, we're not here for some kind of realistic combat or a struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic world. We're here for handsome elegant vampires doing elegant things, badass scientist fighting in mid-air, our most venerable protagonist dazzling every girl within sight, and inappropriate humor. Did I mention it is fully colored and gorgeous?

It's been a while since a new manga came out that was this interesting and addictive. There are very few mangas that I will rate a 10 out of 10, e.g. Berserk, but this one thoroughly surprised me especially with the most recent chapters which have added a great deal of depth to the story. The style that the manhwa presents is new and fresh, and although the storyline might seem like it's been done before by other authors this is one of the more interesting vampire stories.

Started quite good but it lost all of it's "originality", I mean it from style, timing, pacing and atmosphere, vaguely, since the plot ain't original at all. After 100 chapters all that remained was another cliche manga you can find anywhere pretty much like what happened to tower of god. At chapter 400 I had enough cause it didn't even hold to a decent shounnen anymore and dropped it (actually, had dropped an picked up 2 times before),

10/10 Just started reading it the other day and it's so addicting! It starts out a little slow, i mean all that happened in the first chapter was him getting out of a coffin but the story picks up and never loses its grip. Its unique for an action series to have all the fights so one sided, but I don't think it detracts from the story because it doesn't rely so much on the fights to tell the story. (And personally I don't usually care about the battle scenes anyway.)
The art is amazing and even though its in a weird format, i think it actually helps the story telling because if you can only see one panel at a time, it shows the passage of time better.

5 years later revisit: Okay, so I dropped this series several years ago because it was getting boring and the other day I noticed I had listed it as a 10. Well this needs to be fixed. So I tried re-reading it just to make sure I could update accurately. It's worse than I remembered.

God, what happened in the past 5 years? Was it me or the series but it's really just average. Full of tired cliches, repeating elements that got old after the first time. What did I see here?

I wrote my initial review shortly after starting the series and it seemed to have a pretty solid foundation, but neither the plot nor the characters get any deeper. It seems to suffer from "the publisher won't let me cancel" syndrome or something.

If you want something similar but actually has plot and character development, I'd go read Lessa. It's long since filled the void in my heart left by this hot mess.

it's a crying shame. i loved this webtoon. i really did. i just went back and read the beginning bit and it was still so good, but as everyone has commented it gets veeeerrrrrrryyyyyy forumulaic.

also so many things were never explained!!!! despite it being so long!!!! basic questions like: why was frankie coincidentally in south korea?

my recommendation: read until it feels the slightest bit repetitive and stop immediately...it'll only be downhill from there
