I read this manga ages ago and it tends to make a huge jump from comedy to seriousness, but I really like it. I just wish there had been more of Rui and Niina, it seemed like they had a rather large role as supporting characters at the start and then just disappeared. I liked them

I liked how they tackled the serious topic of pregnancy.
But the whole school arc was a bit unconvincing.

I was so surprised when they suddenly began talking about pregnency... The manga was cute... Need some continuation... How could it be that there are people that no nothing about getting pregnent and sex? What about sex ed? Is there no such thing in Japan? :/ anyway it was a good read

Seriously people. Teen pregnancy is no freaking joke. USE SOMETHING!
That aside, this manga is cute and funny. It makes you cry. It will make you appreciate your parents some more. It's not too far off the real thing, only ramped up for a manga.
Seriously though. USE A FREAKING CONDOM KIDS! And don't shake babies. Not cool!

Handles some pretty sensitive stuff in a real insensitive way.
It's not one of the best series out there, but it has character; even though I read it once about 5 years ago, I was able to remember most of it. It kind of sticks to you after reading it. (lol)
I really appreciate the fact that it's not one of those ''a dime a dozen" shoujo series that copy each other and cycle throught he same situations leading to the same reactions ad infinitum. All in all Akkan Baby is a fresh breath of air, even though it has many shortcomings.

People act like there can't be a satisfying middle between "childish" and "serious." Okay, the characters were seriously immature, but I felt true character growth as the story went on and even love. (they were just sex friends in the beginning, not in love with each other)

From the beginning one can tell they're moronic airheads, but as they move together through the pregnancy you can see they mature. They're still teenagers though and you can't so easily break out of old habits, but they really try their best at everything they do.

There are moments when you really pity them. When reality sets in and you realize "hey, they really do have it hard." It was seriously touching and sad, but of course it had it's goofy moments that most shoujos have.

Look past that and try to see the message the mangaka is trying to convey. She's desperately trying to keep things on a light shoujo-ish note while incorporating serious issues that teenagers will face with a pregnancy. It's a really pleasant balance.

I enjoyed it and I think people should stop being so harsh. If you're looking for a serious manga go read a josei and stay away from the shoujos. For everyone else give it a try and try to be open-minded about it.

Highly recommended for mature audiences. I'd say age 14+ is fine.

I can feel the realism -- albeit ... manga-fied.
This feels like a story of the ideal development for early pregnancies.
I love how adorable the characters are, and how this manga addresses the issue seriously with a light-hearted optimistic tone throughout.

I started the scoring from 10 because that's typically what rating I give out. That's sort of my "stamp of approval". Then I subtracted a point because ... the seriousness of the situation didn't fully come through. It is true that this manga addresses the major factors, but the happy-go-lucky ending feels misleading. The aftermath of when the baby is born is skipped... the ending ties up the plot so the reader need not continue worrying about the characters, but... there is more to this story in real life.

Well, those two main characters are so silly, they kept doing sex without any protection (and because they had no sex education at all, or they didn't get that even if they were sex friends, they still had to use protection), and - tada! - the girl was pregnant. It's so funny, I remember how relaxed they were when they told the girl's parents that they were going to have a baby XD

At first the main characters were acted idiotically, but as the girl's pregnancy, the story became more serious. It became more dramatic, how the man worked to put aside money for him and the girl, to convince the girl's parents that he could do something as the father of the baby.

But still, until the end, they kept doing things idiotically!
Just read this if you have some time and want to laugh and smile when reading it.

anyway.. its about pregnancy but it wasnt really dark or over dramatic. i just love that its funny but it still managed to touch some serious stuff on teenage pregnancy. and did i mention that it was funny?
anyway.. i think that it is somehow inappropriate though, somehow if idiots read this <people like shigure and yuki > and get the wrong idea about sex friends, relationships and teen pregnancy.. they are bound to be doomed.. but it is actually quite nice that this manga was still quite dramatic without going overboard.. it will probably get me annoyed if that is so.. anywayss.. its true it has touched me!

the art. people here are saying that the art is not that good, it made me think if we were actually reading the same manga! well for me the art is quite cute! well the typical shoujo cute

and the characters!! for some reason even though Yuki and Shigure are both idiots.. that kind of hard to believe kind.. i still love them! and i absolutely love all the other characters!! especially Rui and Nina!! Rui because duh! he's hot and who doesnt love rockstars! and Nina because she's an awesome woman!!! and of course RUN AWAY NORIO! because im kind of a daddy's girl..

anyway.. this is one of those mangas that you shouldnt take seriosly or else you will end up ranting about it! well for all its worth i will rate it quite high!!!

When I first started reading it I knew how idiotic the characters were going to be but I thought it would be more serious. It wasn't. It was ridiculous. There were no ends to how stupid these two were lol. It was also one of those mangas' that slows down to a pitiful speed and the only thing that keeps you reading it is the fact that you've read so far already.

When reading this I thought it was dumb but I was bored. Now that I'm thinking about it it really was completely unrealistic and quite bad.

If you're looking for silly teen pregnancy story then this one is for you though.
