Nice Read

As an American who frequently reads Japanese manga, this manga was kind of like a famous musician making a song about the high school that I went to. Far from just a background, the setting of the United States actually forms the meat of the story. Stereotypes Japanese have about Americans and vice versa are examined, the main character struggles to adapt to a new culture, and the main conflict comes from extremists on either side of the Japan vs. U.S. scale. From what I can tell, the author actually studied abroad in the U.S.A. as a high schooler and actually learned quite a bit about American culture and English. If you're an American like me who likes manga, then you owe it to yourself to read this. Did I mention it's colored?

If you're not an American, however, and do not have any particular interest in American culture then this manga might not be for you. There are a few funny bits, the main character is cute, and it has color, but like I said, this manga basically examines the United States in depth from a Japanese stand-point as a storyline.
