3 Volumes (Complete)

You know the premise already. There's an emotionally closed-off MC with a tragic backstory and a generally oblivious but kind MC, a vague love triangle situation, and unnecessary misunderstandings because people are can't or won't say what they're thinking. Still, I was surprised at how well the characters developed over the first two volumes - the MCs grow and change in a natural and believable way. As of right now there are only three chapters scanlated to English and it looks like it's been dropped for years, which is a bit of a shame, because the characters are, shall we say, unusually emotionally appropriate (relative to most yaoi) for their stated ages (early/mid-20s) and backgrounds, which makes it a better read than other similarly-premised series.
The pacing of volume 3 is pretty jarring after the slow burn of the first two volumes. I think that one additional volume in the series would have let things progress more naturally and would have gotten a higher rating from me.
The presentation of the "we can't be together even though we both clearly love each other" breakup and emotional reasoning behind it were so close to being excellent, but just rushed/truncated enough to not fully resonate emotionally. The timeline of getting back together might be reasonable chronologically (although it seems pretty unlikely that Shuuji could keep it completely secret from his friends that Haru is back in his life) but because it's crammed into far too few pages, it seems that everything happens abruptly.
This was previously marked as josei; I changed it to yaoi because it is most definitely centered on a romantic relationship between two adult males. There's (mostly implied) sex but nothing explicit.
