I’d rate Night of the Soulless Heathens around 6.5/10. The plot feels fairly standard for a manhwa, with little innovation, and, as expected, there's an Annoying Female Character (Midiam). However, the art stands out with an impressive 8.5/10, which was one of the highlights for me.
I read up to chapter 15 before Dropping it. One unique element is the protagonist being blind.
The story follows Azadin ( MC ), a member of the Herald Clan, a persecuted group considered soulless heretics. Bound by a cursed contract with the emperor—one that continues even after the emperor's death—the clan serves as the emperor's sword, tasked with eliminating opposition. To break their curse, they roam the continent collecting the Emperor's Golden Coins.
Azadin, the protagonist, is particularly disadvantaged, lacking any talent for magic and being the lowest-ranked herald. Despite this, he uses the skills taught by an elder to grant wishes for contractors in exchange for the golden coins. The narrative takes a turn when a mysterious grimoire capable of fulfilling the clan's wishes appears.
The premise of breaking a curse and the protagonist's struggles are engaging, but the execution left me underwhelmed. While the concept had potential, the lack of originality in the story and some irritating characters made it hard to stay invested.
