It's the best balanced manga. The action, comedy, harem, and ecchi content just placed at their place properly. It blend the action with the harem plot very well. sometimes you can see Tsukune as a pathetic typical harem protagonist, sometimes you can see him as an alpha male who did a good job protecting his colony. The ecchiness rate also didn't went overboard.
It's enjoyable, easy to understand, and it's one of those manga which is a harem yet the main protagonist doesn't look pathetic as the time passed. It's good for you who are into harem plot but can hardly bear the pathetic main protagonist.
It's not good to read it if you're a girl, pure action freak, Ikeda Akihisa hater, deep romance lover, into heavy material plot, or person who have fun seeking this manga flaw though.
Oh, of course you should read it's prequel before you read this sequel.

I have to say after reading chapter 18 of season 2 i notice how much the drawing has been improving and also the scanlators really did a good job cleaning it its like reading a high quality scans.
The plot may be a bit slow but the author is slowly trying to show us the character development for each of the main characters without rushing things unnecessarily.
Compare to the season 1 with the much improvisation drawing of season 2 i notice that tsukune, male lead, is getting more and more cooler and the female main characters are also getting more pretty
Overall, aside from the ecchiness, i really enjoy reading it. A good read, easy to understand and fun for its own genre.
For people who are into deep plot, non-stop mindless action, complex story, deep emotional romance with totally angst character, anti-vampire stories and trying to compare it with this manga by saying it is bad then this is not for you.

If you liked the first season, you'll enjoy where the second seems to be going.
Overall the series is fairly cliche and the character development is transparent.
The presentation however, (bar the sometimes inept fan service inserts) is polished and the story progresses at a pace that doesn't bore you to tears.

This is by far my favorite manga. The plot and art work have made me cry, jump for joy and have kept me up at night wondering what's next. My only complaint is that tsukene will end up with moka and kurumu will be alone. also mizore. If possible, id rate this manga higher than a ten

This is a spectacular manga, I've been a fan of R+V for about 2-3 years. It has a great plot, well-developed characters, and Ecchi/Harem. At first, I thought it would be like all out war in his group, the war over who takes Tsukune, but the author took their time to explain each character's background and interests as well as display Tsukune as someone who genuinely cares for all of the others. Hope everyone else reading this has enjoyed it as much as I. A definite 10/10 from the start and can't wait for next month's chapter.

You know the ending to that phrase.
Rosario Vampire Season II took the maturing characters from the prequel series and presented them with a new task: instead of learning to overcome their own struggles with friendship, they had to learn to overcome disagreements, test their friendships, and have each others backs.
Tall order!
The growth of the characters may seem stagnant when they stand shoulder to shoulder, but take a character on his/her own and you can see how far they have come, even with their quirks relatively unchanged. In this way Ikeda was masterful at characterization, using the hidden cues and slight changes mannerisms and thought processes to reflect on how far the characters have come..... and how far they still have yet to go.
The plot: Not as effective as the first season, but still impeccable. Each chapter is relevant, just like the previous series. After waiting a month for every chapter, me and my compatriots were never disappointed with filler or a lack of traction: development was everywhere, in characters, in romance, in story.
The last arc does get choppy and frantic, with fight after fight after fight after fight. But it serves as an effective coda to a story that had been building up the end of the first story arc of season two, where everyone gives more than 235% to play their part. Romance is pumped up on steroids, development is turned up to 11, plot burns faster than propane thrown on lava. After all of the drama, the ending is obviously going to be more of a whimper than a bang. After such a grand finale, the silence and stillness can appear disappointing, but you couldn't expect anything different. Although the lack of a definite romantic confirmation left things a tad bit open, it wasn't as bad as most people expected.
Throughout the story, the discussions and theories and predictions were numerous like the buffalo: There was so much to expect, to anticipate, that we were hanging on every issue, every piece to the puzzle. We were often off mark, a sign of a unique manga and a unique approach. Or maybe we were just dumb. Details and memories are fuzzy.
One thing that bears mentioning is the brilliantly created world that Ikeda sculpted creating both the first and second season, realistic despite the fact that magic exists. Many other series, even with magic and a different set of physics, often have inconsistencies or logical holes, while Rosario Vampire feels like a world teetering on a delicate balance, much like reality. This "Cold War" of separation and the belief of coexistence and reconciliation is a brave and relevant mirror to the geopolitical setting of our own lives. This realism is reinforced pretty well, although plot armor protects our protagonists quite well, there is no doubt that the threats that they faced were real and that they will remember these events, scars will remain (Tsukune is a notable example).
The characters are even better. Themes of rejection, desperation, hopelessness, play their part for every character in different ways, and they resolve these issues in various ways, either through self-introspection, communication, or intervention. Their relationships strengthen, and new relationships are made. The romance is kept very true, and it is a delight to see the romantic subplot continue from where it left off in the previous series to culminate in a rather stunning end, before being absconded for the epilogue. An end to the story that painfully drags you to want more, to want to see more. Alas...
It is over. The joy of waiting a month and thinking about what would or could happen has passed. The time for speculation and dreams have passed. Now you, reader, have the chance to enjoy the series in its entirety. I recommend you enjoy the panels like fine wine, sip by sip, picking out the thoughts and mannerisms of the characters, understanding how they justify and struggle with obstacles. You will be impressed by what you find, as long as you look closely (and with some patience). As someone who has spent much time arguing talking-points around this story, I have come to realize how well-portrayed and believable these characters are.
This is the manga standard for so many genres, from romance to supernatural to drama to school life, and is clearly one of the best series you will read. I hope this series will impact you as positively as it has affected me.
All that I have left to say is a word for Ikeda.
Thank you.

I like this manga. When I was cathing up on the old chapters it was really really addicting, but right now it's kinda slow paced (there is something happening in every chapter, but not really connected to the main plot line). I think when this manga is finished and you can read it in one go, it's going to be just AMAZING, so I suggest waiting till it's done.
And all the girls whining about Tsukune not being able to choose, blah blah... This is not your typical no-plot-shoujo in which after 2 chapters, the male lead proposes to the female lead for god knows what reasons. This is harem and shounen. If you want cheesy romance, go read twilight.

The author pulled a Negima in this story by having a major genre shift from repetitive eechi/harem/bad of the week at school type story to...Well saving the world (Japan).
While it isn't particularly "bad", it's just something these characters weren't design nor suited for. Nowhere else was it more apparent during the later half of the manga (where it's trying to be super serious), yet the only charm this manga has remains the brief periods of humor that carried over from its original happy-go-lucky route.
By the end, everything unique about the characters established by the first series and first half of this season went straight out the window. Everyone just throwing their fists around, and those who were never good at combat became even more irrelevant, it's like watching Konohamaru's squad fighting during the Ninja War.

I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. I was enjoying Season 2 okaaaay... And then I stopped reading right before the sports festival. And eventually I read the sports festival. Annnnnnd... Then I finally moved this from my reading list to On Hold.
I just DEVOURED Season 2 from volume...6? all the way to chapter 51, which would be volume 11 or more. I am SO glad I did. For myself, because I feel things deeply, I'm also glad I waited to read everything in one big CHOMP, because the repetitive cliffhanging stress would have been too much for my emotional muscles in certain places over time.
Wow. I am just simply...impressed.

This manga is funny, has action and lots of ECCHI
Easy to read and enjoy.
On a side not i think they best move they made in the entire series was making Tsukune go ghoul. Right when i was starting to get overly annoyed with how weak he was he finally gets badass!
The artwork has also improved a huge amount. It was great in season 1 and now it's awesome. Tsukune actually looks cool and worthy of the harem and the girls look 10 times hotter than they already were.
Definitely a great manga.
