Volume 1: Kento basically called his girlfriend a good breeding machine housewife, was that the first red flag because daaamn. He's the type who would ask his wife to quit her job after marriage. His problem is he doesn't care about what the woman wants, if he did he would have told her he was looking for a housewife from the beginning. Not all women want to be jobless whether they have kids or not, and I doubt he'd help with the household chores, he just wants to come home to dinner, a kiss on the cheek and loving children without putting in any work. Yukie's gorgeous and she deserves better.

Rant aside, I love how it went from Akira dub-conning him to him turning into a beast. Man's repressed. 😅

Chapter 5 is a time jump to one year later, I guess they're together-together now? They had a brief fight but it didn't take long to fix. I don't see what the second vol. will be about since they settle things. But can someone who wants a housewife and kids really just throw that dream away with no lingering feelings? ★★★☆☆

Volume 2: Meeting Akira's mom and his insecurity about his parents, running in to Kento's friend with his family and Akira feeling insecure about Kento letting go of his dream, Kento loosening up on going to his grandparents for New Years because they don't like his relationship with Akira (they tried setting him up with a woman without telling him).

For the chapter with Akira's old art teacher, Kento has more patience than I ever would. Learn some boundaries!! Kento did learn that Akira used to be really different and I did not expect the twist!!

Then came the marriage proposal and moving in with Kento and his grandparents, a lot happened all at once!

Comparing this manga to others written around the same time, it really was a lot more progressive in ways even with the traditional seme.

I really liked this couple best when they were getting along, the intimacy between them was jumping off the page.

The couple growth and character growth was pretty impressive to witness overall! ★★★★☆

CWs: Dubious consent, drunken intercourse, traditional seme (causes some misogyny/stereotyping), no lube, disapproving grandparents

I read reviews and expect something extraordinary lmao
But It was just some unrealistic boring cliche with unlikable main couple.
Story start out of nowhere and till the end I still don't get what make that dude even date Akira in the first place, we just suddenly see oh a straight guy just so carazy for Akira out of blue , maybe bc he is pretty like a girl, screaming cliche 🙄 and pls he used to only date women and dream of marriage, even though of dating a guy going to be diffcult for a old fashioned guy like him but he is so okay about everything and he is the one who is more into it and even want to married lol give me a break with this delulu unrealistic drama.
I don't even find it funny, joke is cringe and Akira is annoying af.
I care and want to see more of side characters instead of main couple, it say a lot 😂
But i like main character grandparents so much tho

I enjoyed the characters, but the story felt rushed. I didn't feel like the characters were cliche exactly, but more like they weren't fully fleshed out. I could tell there was more there but I just wasn't getting it. I also would have liked to see the different plot threads go a bit farther and be more fleshed out.

My only complaint about this manga is that I felt the romance was too fast, but from that point onwards it was very realistic about the relationship and the hardships same-sex couples must endure in our society, but also as individuals with personal issues. Love it.

Kunieda Saika-sensei ranks very high on my bias list, and one of the reasons for that is this immensely incredible piece of work which I've lost count of how many times I've revisited time and time again. The main characters are absolutely the biggest assets that the manga's got; no reader will not end up adoring them in the end. The side characters are also very interesting, and the author's humour played wondrously at breathing life into the whole story. It's very heart-warming, not in the cutesy fluffy school-boy love kind of way, but in a more realistic perspective that grown-up adults will experience. Watch how people come to meet, then fall in love, then overcome very real obstacles in life while creating bonds with fellow human beings along the way. The artwork is absolutely a personal bonus for me, despite how some people could find it unappealing or whatnot. Everyone must definitely read this.

Being one of my all time favorites, this manga have all the things I usually look for. Realistic story, good art, and likable characters. I really love Kuneida Saika, and as someone who has probably read all of her scanlated work, I can clearly say that this is the best one.

Unfortunately I’m bad at explaining, so I don’t want to spoil this amazing manga for you. Just read it, and you will understand what I mean.

Some parts are really realistic and I'm always giggling. ^^ I would definitely recommend this, even though the art isn't what I'm usually into, it's actually very clean and neat. So read this, for sure.

This is one of the best yaoi I've ever read. I've waded through a lot of cliche crap in order to read a gem like this. It's thoughtful, realistic, and truely funny. In fact, this is one of the best romantic comedies I've ever read, managing to be equally romantic and funny. Don't miss the sequel, it's just as good.

I really enjoyed this- it's a fraction better than Kaze no Yukue, but I'm not gonna split hairs over that. This is also a beautiful story.
I normally avoid mangas that have flaming bishounen ukes and bisexual salaryman type brute semes.... you know how the stereotype goes, yadayadayada etc.
BUT in this case the story and humour just made it all irrelevant to me.
This will remain in my mind for a long time. Highly recommended to anyone who loves mature yaoi.

I love the main story - Deux press titles it "Future Lovers, volume 1". A perfect mix of quirky humour, adult jokes and unexpected plot twists that are Kunieda sensei's trademark. Eagerly awaiting the release of volume 2.
However I found the oneshot "Winter Rabbit", which takes up the last third of the book, to be not quite up to the mangaka's usual standard - hence the slightly lower rating.
