I don't know how to explain it. This story and it's characters probably resonated well with me that's why I feel like it's such a masterpiece.
I love that both characters have very realistic views or the world and are both very valid. One believes that dating just comes and goes and another believes that dating should be between soul mates for life.
It's fascinating to watch them come together, understand each other, clash and explain themselves. Most BL, there is a clear image of who was wrong, but in this one, no matter how much I agreed with the bottom, I feel like that top is also justified in thinking the way he does when he explains himself.
It's so rare to find a story that goes from sex friends to something more in such a realistic way, with plenty of communication (even though it does blow up in their faces, they communicate and try to bare themselves to each other. It's just that these two characters have such different values that they can't really fit together perfectly...yet. There IS the usual miscommunication, but it's not the bulk of their issues.)
It's such a good slow burn drama about how the characters come to terms with their feelings, and unfortunately at different paces, which is where we get the drama and pain and hurt that we often see in classic BL manga, but it doesn't feel like it's done cheaply.
Overall, I feel like this is a masterpiece title. It's not without its faults, but it just portrays the human dynamic so well.
Some people are definitely going to disagree, but it definitely resonated with me.
